Well its been 6 months since my last defect so i was about due for one.
Cops pulled us up (my mate was driving with 6 people in the car), he measured my fuel tank and it was 80mm off the ground, handed me a defect notice and gave me a nice sticker.
But what i dont understand is that he gave me a major and ticked a rwc is required and all the defect states is that the car is too low?
I always assumed you needed at least 3 things for it to be a major.
Also he buggered up and he wrote that the car must be at least 150mm clearance, which isnt right it should be 100? unless the law has changed?
By saying it's too low means the defect would be for the suspension.....which is a major defect and requires the car to go over the pits. Doesn't matter how many things he defects ya for, could be 10 and still be a minor, depends wats actually on the defect notice.
I think anyways![]()

did i read that right you had 6 people in the car?
The Mad Dutchman
Echuca, that explains it.
We go up there every year for holidays. Once we got pulled over by an off duty copper in a civilian car and civilian clothing. He just sat behind us flashing his high beams. After a while dad pulled over. The copper gave him a random blasting about a "waist of time 4x4 wagon" in the city. Gave his a canary for having air bags. The car was an adventra with factory fitted 2100kg tow pack and high rise air shockers lol
I still fail to understand why people think it's OK to drive around in a defectable car... Seriousy!
i was always told that ya need 3 things for a major, everytime ive been done the cops find 3 things and then stop looking cause thats all they need, then ive had friends that have had wire hanging outta their tyres and got a minor.
yeah 6 people in the car, cop was too dumb to even notice and measured the car fully loaded aswell.
if there is NOTHING wrong with yout car the officer can give u a defect to send u over the pits mate. There job isnt to know EXACTLY ever regulation they just have a guess ( i know it ****ing sucks) if they think its defectable and then its up to the people at the pits to tell u if its ok or not

was too drunk to actually realise he was defecting the car and didnt even see him measure it (he probably didnt), it might have pushed the tank up to 100mm but not the zorst but he only said the tank height.
so u were driving a car with 5 or 6 mates in the car, plus yourself while drunk?
Read it carefully, he wasn't driving![]()

No such thing as having to have any certain number of faults for the defect to be classed as 'major'. It all comes down to opinion of the one issuing the notice.
Wah bloody wah. Build a bloody bridge.
Thread closed. Sick of hearing about how hard done by people are for breaking the law.
