Default WTF!! Stupid queensland cop!! (a bit long lol )

well im quit annoyed at a cop in my town. (

I am on my provisional ! license. Heres the story... Now i work night shift at Big W (yeh i know lol) and sometimes take me work mate home (about 400 meters from work) ...He IS 22 years old. (turned 22 about a month ago) Now when i left work no more then 100 meters i see a cop the oposit way....then they turn around and wait at the light's the street over behind me...lights turn green (for both of us) i go (slowly as i knew they were gonna get me) they fly up and lights etc...i pull over. now i dont really care if they pull me up or not (about the 4th time in the last month or so) all the other timea i have been pulled over they were nice etc (guys and chick cops ) quiet polite cops

To night i had a chick cop come over and says:
    M = me
    C=cop
    T= mate (tom)

C: how are you tonight just pulled you over for a rbt and a liscence check (th hole time she was a bitch)
    M: yeh im ok thanks
C : looks at license and says (with the most dirty looking smirk on her face) "Matey you are a provisional 1 license holder.."Do you know what that means?"
    M: Umm..no not really?
C: looks at me mate (has uniform on..i had jumper on) How old are you
    T: 22....
C: do you have any ID on you (Tom pulls out his 18 plus card)
C: (to me) you do know what this means don't you?
    M: (still abit confused) no i don't..what????
C: your on you p1 license and have a passenger in the car that is 22 years of age.
M: yeah...so...???...im allowed to have one passenger 21 years or over in the car after 12 or something...unless its changed..which i dont think it has!! (i was close with the rules though) see link)
C (getting allitle ****ed) Ill have to check THEN!! but i don't think it is.
me and tom were like WTF....then tom goes ...man i hope you dont get fined...i said Why? they cant fine me for this!

anyway i could here her and another male cop talking on the radio (being told the rules...which wasn't right anyway) then she comes back and say
"you are lucky mate as he has just turned 22. if he was 21 you could be in a bit of trouble!",..... cya. (thast all she said.)

im just a little confused as now that i have checked the rulings for p 1 license holders in Queensland it states that i am only allowed 1 passenger under the age of 21 (excluding immediate family members) between the hours of 11 pm and 5 am....that means (scenario) i can have one 18 year old passenger and tom in my car as he is 22.....also (another scenario) i can have 4 people 21 years and over in my car and they cant do **** (i belive) see link..
    Restrictions

what ****ed me off is that they didn't know the CORRECT rules...and there the cops!! like the way she was saying is if tom was 21 i would be fined etc....BUT thats a load of ****..im sitting thinking to my self...FINE ME FINE ME ...so i can ram it up your ass as its not a valid fine!

she was also abit ****ed off that my rego was VALID..haha i kid you not lol .....this is the first time i have gotten a brain dead cop!!

anyway sorry its long but im just a bit ****ed off thats all

    cheers

So you do not get a fine, the police do the right thing and double check, AND YOU STILL WHINGE. **** me, no pleasing you younger people these days is there. God forbid you lost 2 minutes of your time due to police being unsure and double checking what you said. Would you prefer that they just fined you outright without checking?

It's a problem for police who are entrusted with the job of randomly checking people who might be going about their legitimate business at odd hours of the day. From my own experience after working with them for nearly 40 years, I have seen how hard and dangerous their jobs can be, just conducting random traffic checks.

On the other hand, there is a right and wrong way to address the public during those checks. I was once pulled over by a HWP officer, simply because my HR was lowered and, being a weekend, I was dressed in daggy clothes. At the time, I would have been about 40 years old. The officer pulled me over for no obvious reason, as I was travelling at the speed limit and minding my own business. He had his breach book in his hand. When I asked him why he had pulled me over, he said "obscured number plate". I asked him how he could have seen it as he had been travelling in the opposite direction and had immediately u-turned to catch up to me and pull me over. I then told him where I worked and that I believed he had just seen a modified early Holden and thought it would be a likely target. His tone changed immediately. He tried to bluster his way out by saying "I usually just give warnings for this sort of offence." To which I replied "Yeah, that's why your carrying your breach book with you."

Unfortunately, some are good and some are bad in their manner of dealing with the public. The bad ones make it very difficult for the vast majority of decent police to carry out their jobs without abuse from the public.

Took the works right out of my keyboard. I'd rather a copper be a prick and not fine me, rather than be a prick and fine me as well. I deal with pricks all the time at work and outside of work, if you don't act smart, answer the questions you have been asked and not mouth off, it's easy enough to deal with a prick.

Yes sir, no sir, three bags full sir.

Have to agree with jas98 on SOME of what he has posted!
I think he was more upset @ there attitude than the way they conducted there enquires..
Totally agree with everyone else on police doing exstensive enquries but theres ways of talking to people too!
With that said (no offence mate) but saying you hope she gets the fine thing wrong so you can have a go ect makes you look like you have little respect for police and the tough job they have to do...but just my op

Anyway, from what you have said, there seems to be an anomally; I'd like to hear the police version of the events in the last month.

If you feel that you are being picked on then you can easily go to the local police station to sort things out.
However, if you think that you may have caused a nuisance or done something wrong in the previous month then perhaps you could work through the situation in a logical manner.

It doesn't matter what you do but having a go is spot-on. Anyway, if I've read too much into that then I apologise.

    Y
haha yeh big w is good...could get more hours though :P

as for what everyone else has said...fair enough was tired and ****ed off last night.i do apoligise for saying that i hope they get the fine wrong. However i don't get the fact that she didn't know the basic P plater rules that have been in place for the past 1 year to date! how long does it take then to realize this? even just a little understanding of teh ruels. As not one of them (her the other cop in car and guy on radio) knew the rules....even when she sorted it out the rules she said was still incorrect! so if my mate was 21 or under 21 i would have been fined?....how many other people has she/the police force.. done this to?

also the other times that i have been pulled up was in my VN Twice for coming home from work at 1 am for a RBT the other was a RBT on the side of the road at 1 am and last night i was in my VS which looks like an old guys car....so i don't think there targeting me personally.. and i dont drive like a dick head like some.
.Hey i don't care if they pulled me over, she is only doing her job which is fair enough..i would also pull a p plater over at that time of teh night if i was a cop as well... but she didn't have to be a bitch about it as i was being quit polite. It also felt like I was teaching her the ruels.

As for minux...wtf! yes they double checked but why should they? shouldn't they have a "basic" understanding of the rulings? I mean she was basically about to fine me then and there until i mentioned the fact that i am allowed to carry me mate i the car. It was alot more then 2 minutes aswell...more like 15...but yeh i don't care about that part.

And whats wrong with me being a young guy? Just because i knew the correct rules that the police should have had an understanding of anyway?

Seems a lot of young people whinge about anything - I think that's where Minux is coming from. As for what happened to you, by your reasoning Police should know EVERY law, rule and regulation off the top of their heads. Let me ask you, as a driver do you know every road rule and regulation of the top of your head? How about registration and vehicle insurance legislation? Hmmm... Thought not.

So you are aware of every Big W policy for stores across Australia? Can you please tell me what the pallet policy relating to store transfers for big w is?

You work there, you should know EVERY SINGLE RULE relating to the company.

To think that is the case is bloody stupid. Have you seen how big the road act is, plus local legislation, plus local road acts, plus local law it is simply not possible to know every single rule in detail. She was unsure, she admitted this and went back and checked, I fail to see where the problem is. You come across coc*y about it on here, I can only imagine how you were in the car...

Mate as some one that is in law enforcement there are so many different laws, regulation, policys blah blah blah it is hard to remember every little bit. So she ask someone else for help big deal.

So she was a bitch, have you ever been rude?

General duties police officer have a hard and thank less job. The last person that they pulled over may of been a right prat, you may of been tared with the same brush but because you were polite the next P plated they come across they may be in the better mood.

Who's to say she didn't have to scrape a body off the road 1 hour before pulling you over? Christ... give her a break.

Its the smart asses and dick heads who make it harder for the next person to be pulled over. And I find it hard to believe that if you have the attitude you do in here, that you were polite... Did yu even ask how she was? since she was nice enough to ask you lol.

Between Craig and I in the last 6 years we have been pulled over at least 20 times (the way Craig looks doesn't help) and not once....not ONCE have we been fined...why? Treat & respect the officers as you yourself wish to be treated and you will have no problems.

And some people are just wankers. The times I've been pulled I've had two that are just a*holes. The rest have been great, even had a laugh with them when they shouldn't be friendly (standing outside in freezing cold temps at a booze bus).

Just cause they wear a police uniform doen't mean they're all nice. But the large majority are fantastic people that are doing their job to the best of their ability. But like every other industry out there, there are people who really shouldn't deal with other people. Unfortunatly the ones that act like fools are easier to remember then the people that do their job well.

Mate you are spot on there is good and bad people in life. When at work I try to be nice to everyone but if someone wants to be a twat to me I will return it. I was trying to help a bloke the other day i was being very nice and helpful but he turned and started to swear and carry on like a 12yr old, he was swearing having a big old hissy fit. I told him to calm down and stop swearing in a public place his response was your a cop every one swears at you. I could care if he swears at me it was the 5-6yr old kids that I care about.
So what im trying to say is with me if you fail the attitude test I wont be nice and helpful back. I pride myself with been one of the nice one's.

Actually happened once, he backed down when I got out of the car and I towered over him (I was asked to step out of the car btw). But my friends kept me calm so I was as nice as I could be.
After that night, I never had an issue in terms of a real a*hol copper so I cant be sure what I'd do. But your prob right I would try and be nice as I dont need the hassle from the law.

I say WTF are these rules you have in there ??!

In Saudi Arabia it's simple, you have license, everyone in the car have IDs, It all good

there are 2 types of licenses : 17 years old, 18+ years old, and they are the same LOL

My respect is up for my law less country *Cheers*

BUT, here there is nothing you can do to a cop !, if he LIED in your face and said you crossed a red light ...

THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO ! (3 days in jail+juicy fine)

so I don't know wich is better, your cops or ours

Police officers have a thankless job to do, and Jas98, if you were in any trouble or had your car stolen they are usually one of the people you would contact for assistance. So a little respect makes a huge difference.
Police officers do make mistakes and to prevent an error from occuring she double checked, they are human beings and have their own personalities.
Some people do have bad days, and a simple smile or even showing some courtesy can change their attitude, it can be reflective.
Unfortunately police officers deal with all types of people and they can judge you before you've even said or done anything. Take it on the chin, and show a bit of maturity.
At 1am they are on the roads for a reason, to prevent dangerous behaviour from occuring, and ensure the safety of the community, they may think you've just come from a pub, they are not necessarily going to know you just finished work.
I can sometimes understand that it may be frustrating to be pulled over many times, and that you want to go home and sleep or have a beer, they're doing their job, and your choosing to drive on the states roads and so someone is needed to police them.

you know what you can do?

dont worry about it........ police have their good and bad days just like any body else, i know i do when im at work, i dont remember every procedure at work and im not going to pretend i do, it does my head in... i also have my days that im "not there" so how about you give the cop a bit of slack?

i remember the stupid threads i used to make about being pulled over and me having a complete sook about how they asked my mate for I.D and such..... now that i look at it, it was stupid... their just doing a job that alot of people cant do and/or refuse to do.
it needs to be done so like i said, give them some slack and dont bust there balls.....

you complain now but everytime i get pulled over now i do get that tingling feeling in my stomach hoping they dont notice my car is to low, but i dont care because i know their doing their job, if family/friends/my car gets stolen and they pull the person over oneday, its all worth it

dont worry about the 5-10 minutes out of your life, wake up 5-10 minutes earlier if its that much of a hassle to you
