Ok the missus has got a new phone (with virgin) and wants to add a new ringtone to her phone ect but the virgin site only has polly tones no real music ect, & to be honest im not up with all this stuff ect! So where can she download real music from (that does not cost $10 per week) Cheers fellas!
first of all, what kind of phone has she got??
i've never had to pay for true ringtones...nor will i EVER pay for them.
i've had a few sony erricssons and nokia that have mp3 compatibility, p/c connectivity and blue-tooth.
you can transfer music files from your p/c, bluetooth music from other phones in to and use that same file as an mp3 ringtone.
thats how i usually get mine..and if i get bored with it, just use my p/c to transfer new music to my phone and use the file as a ringtone.
HONESTLY OFFICER, IT WAS CONSECUTIVE U TURNS..
Cheers fellas will have a look for the usb cable![]()
as said, install the software onto your pc, connect the phone and pc via the usb cable and sync the phone. Backup everything already on your phone to your pc and then copy whatever you want onto your phone.
Once the music is on your phone, browse to it, select the song you want and then set is as your ringtone (will be under then options).

"No, I'm not a pessimist. At some point the world shits on everybody. Pretending it ain't shit makes you an idiot, not an optimist."
Also something I can recommend, I use this heaps, is a little free trialware program called 'WavePad' I use it to chop up songs. (Arg Im giving away my secrets here!)
So I grab my current favorite song or oldie but goodie& I cut the chorus up & save it, then USB transfer to my phone & voila! I have cool new ringtone
But totally agree no point in BUYING or SUBSCRIBING to ringtone things, costs you a fortune really quickly! (Yes we know where I work, I see accounts everyday with $$$$ on them for ringtones/games/quizes etc...)
I use Media Monkey. There should be a disc with the phone that has Nokia PC Suite on it. Install that and away you go. Use editing software to chop the bit of the song that you want. Media Monkey shows the file as sound waves so you can accurately pin point the start and the end of the clip without having to guess using a time line. A tip is to keep the clip length down to around 30-40 seconds so it doesn't take up too much memory on the phone.
Found the disk in the box but its a really small disc (to small for cd rom) and cheers Troy for that link
