    Default General MoCo?

Ford to benefit from General Motors hybrid technology

WE MAY not be seeing a Falcon with an engine built by Holden at Fishermens Bend any time soon, but the Ford Motor Co and General Motors are discussing a possible collaboration on developing new engines and powertrain technologies.

Sources quoted in a Detroit News report this week said the deal under consideration would give Ford access to GM's plug-in hybrid Volt technology and help GM offset the decision to cut its product development budget.

The report said GM approached Ford more than a month ago about a potential collaboration on powertrain development, and that the Blue Oval's board had approved negotiations.

I can understand why, they're both really struggling at the moment and posting huge financial losses. Doesn't mean it will result in anything though.

Developing hybrid technology wont do squat. If people wanted hybrids all you would see is prius' everywhere. They would be better off developing diesel setups in their cars.

Sounds like a good deal to me. Ford can have GM's hybrid tech, the alloytech and the crappy 6 speed auto.. Then Ford can give us the ZF 6 speed and their ecoboost program for the next lot of V6's.
