Hi
I live in an older style house with the old style plaster that has the fibre that bonds the plaster together. The problem i have is that i done some renovations last summer fixing up some cracks in the plaster and re painting .
It looks good until the cold weather comes and the old plaster seems to contract and the cracks reappear . When it warms up again the cracks disappear again . I was wondering if there is a type of filler that is compatable with the older style plaster.
thanks in advance .

plane out the existing joints, re-tape and re-set them. big job, but it should work.
ive never come across that problem, we generally dont do any work with fiberous plaster.
how big of an area is the room? you could just resheet over the existing ceiling, but that also means you will have to redo the cornice
You could pay Troy to come down to do it. HAHA

The best way to fix it would be to re-sheet and set it. Ive never seen the problem your talking about before but in general fiborous walls tend to look crappy in glancing light even if they have been skimmed because they are generally not flat like plaster sheets are.
