Default Vic Roads / personal plates / re assigning question...

I guess this can go in here.

    Hey guys, quick question.

I had my COBEZ plates registered to my old car, then when i sold it to my mate, my dad shot into Vicroads for me and assigned some standard issue plates to the car and got a new rego sticker and it was all put on their system, as the car was still in his name.

Now, would my COBEZ plates have automatically gone into self retention, or would they have been cancelled straight away?

I still have the plates, so tomorrow when i go to transfer my Senator into my name, after it's in my name, can i re-assign my COBEZ plates onto my Senator, or do i have to pay a fee to have them re assigned?

    Cheers

They didn't ask him. He just purchased and assigned standard plates to the car that my COBEZ plates were on.

if they didnt ask then youd assume its still in your name, it would be dirty of them to twist it around like that. But yeah i HAD to tick what i wanted to do with them before i could get new plates for my other car.

Ahh ok, must be different here. Just went to the Vicroads site and typed in COBEZ to see if they were available, and it said they were taken. I'm HOPING they automatically go into self retention.

Just take them with u when u go in, after u have gotten a RWC.
And get them to put them on instead of renewing your current ones. Pretty sure it costs about the $30 mark to do so

also i dont need to pay a fee to assign them to my new car, just need to surrender the old plates. i like the color of these qld plates too, the old green color they used to be before they changed to maroon.

Well maybe when i go in tomorrow, i'll take my Cobez plates, and hand in the old ones and re assign my Cobez ones.

When i purchased the Cobez ones, it didn't cost us anything to assign them to my old car. I'm guessing it's the same deal now. I'll just have to take a phillips head in with me to get the old plates off.

They will go on retention, and will cost you about $100 to put on your new car. When the plates are new its free and anytime after that it will cost you.Ive been swapping mine around since about 1994.

How much are your plates per year? Fully personalised ones, not those stupid ones that look like standard issue you cheap ass QLD'ers use.

i have homer simpson plates, if only they were stock. love them.

It was 80 dollars to initially put it on my vq but since the plates were a gift the fee was withdrawn. To assign it to any of my cars is free after the first payment which i skipped anyway...

you can stop the bad ass attitude & argue elsewhere cause im not interested, my g/f paid 450 for mine and pay no fees whatsoever. plus my rwc is a once off thing, not every year like everyone else. thats got to add up some cash.

Ummm we do RWC once aswell mate. The only way she got you plates for that much is the lame ass 3 letter 3 number combo's, not personalised plates.
