    Default Losing Belly Fat

    Sup fellas,

Just wondering if ya's can give some helpful hints on how to lose your stomach fat. It's not actually for me but for my GF. She's gotten a treadmill and does that each day for an hour. As a girl she claims she can't do sit-ups, and get's fustrated when I say everyone can do it :P so I'm out of ideas.

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I know you should eat healthier, we have started on that one .... just doesn't work as well when she's around me. I eat a lot of junk food ... potato chips, chips from fish n chip shop, pizza .... never maccas, HJ's, KFC or nything. I probably eat twice the amount of what the rest of my family eats haha.

I just don't know what to tell her. I've never had the situation before. I'm what ... 170cm tall and weigh 60kgs. I'm just lucky I got a good metabolism.

Anyone ever used weight lose tablets or something? I've heard they don't work. I actually haven't looked into it much. Like I said it's not for me.

you cant just get rid of belly fat. you have to drop overall body fat %. best thing to do is ivterval cardio work. Ride a stationary bike; sprint for 8 seconds in with a medium setting of resistance then keep up a moderate pace for 20 seconds, then 8 seconds spriiting etc etc etc for 25 minutes every day. Followed by ab workouts and core muscle workouts and she will see a very good improvement in tone around her guts

Circuit training, always worked while in the army, works when im out.

Using treadmills, stationary bikes etc are pointless, they don't really do anything(once at a certain point).

Using real world forces makes a world of difference.

Daily i jog in the mornings for 30min. But my job keeps me on my feet for 10-12hrs a day

Hey don't forget, All you eat now doesn't effect you, But it will come back to get you at some stage..

Tummy's are one of the hardest things for women to loose..
Rowing is good, Palates at home also.
Another one, When i do bench presses, I left my legs and tighten my tummy, Feels great, It also helped me lose some more centremeters off my waist.

With food it's tough, Because not all healthy foods work with everyone, But even with a good diet, You still need some fat in that to make sure the body works off all foods, That it doesn't get lazy..
Best thing i ever did was, Get into higher fibre foods great for digesting, Low in fat and saturated fats, And for take away, Eat subway, And drink plenty of water. But just be smart with what you eat, No chips fatty foods etc, But still that doesn't mean you can't eat real food, Many low calorie low fat nice tasting foods out there.
Lost 26kg, Works for me.. I'm a healthy boy, Top 10% in Australia for cholesterol hearts beating like a teenager.

I did use weight loss tablet last year, Not worth the cash in my opinion, I lost nothing in 1 month of using them, Lost 2kg this month on my own.

Cut all gluten/wheat out of your diet and watch your weight drop. It's like glue mate, just sticks. Seeing my personal trainer while on my wheat & Gluten free diet i was dropping 5kg a week. That was without running due to my leg injuries. Hard to find a good PT once you've been in the army, but my current one, she is great.

Sorry to go so off topic

I gave it a go, After you recommended it last time, But it's so small, I'd have to eat a good 6 slices, But I'm not sure if i need it that much, I eat cereal for breakfast now, Instead of bread, And most of the time i go without it now..
Only time i grab subway is when i go watch a movie now, I used to grab a 1 litre coke and bag of twisties.. Now i go in with a 6" Sweet onion chicken teriyaki, And 600ml water.. But i only do that about 2 times a month.

I have been getting advice off my mothers friends mother, She worked at Weight watches for years, She gave me some books for a 12 week program, dos and donts, Recipes etc..

But admittingly, I'd love a personal trainer, My nephew is doing it at the moment, And all he thinks about is heaviest weight possible on his bar.

Potatoes are fine, you can buy San Remo gluten free pasta(which tastes great). These days its hard to say what actually contains gluten, it's used in almost everything, even sausages lol.

    Heres a link for you

    and

Safeway down here are brilliant with their gluten/wheat free products, a full aisle dedicated to it.

lol, if you need to eat 6 pieces of that you are eating far too much. I suggest perhaps a glass of water and slower chewing I have 2 pieces and Im full. If I'm not my gluten free cereal tops me up.
As for weight watchers, Jenny Craig etc, they really are all useless and a waste of money. Everyone who uses their diets when they stop, re-gain weight, so really its a waste of money.

Sure Slim works. But it's about a medically formulated full on eating program that you pretty much need to stick to forever...

Smarter & less eating combined with regular excercise is the best thing to do. Full on excercise will mean you can basically eat huge meals of anything you want and still lose weight. I've never eaten so much in my life as I did when I was in the military, but with PT, drill and going on excercise, I ended up losing **** loads of fat!

aside from eating properly, the 2 biggest mistakes people make with exercise is:
    1. not training hard enough - walking won't burn fat off, and
    2. making your sessions less than 25-30 mins. the body only starts burning fat after that amount of intense exercise.

if you're thinking that sounds like hard work, take a look around you next time you're in a crowd. you're in good company

I disagree, walking WILL make you burn fat, i lost 35kg by just walking and watching what i ate (I wasnt starving myself or on a "diet" either).
If your trying to tone up then yes you do have to do some more intensive excersise but walking is a great way to keep you weight in check (as long as you do it enough).

Spot on, there was also a guy on biggest loser who had a heel spur, all he could do is walk and have a good diet, after returning to the show he had lost some 40+kg.

Walking IS one of the best forms of exercise to do, it is low impact with great results. I cannot run, however, walking and swimming is the exercise I did to drop my 40+ kg's.

    Thanx guys for the inputs.

Diets are quite hard to stick to, especially if you don't do the cooking yourself haha. Also when you go on a diet you have to eat healthy, one of the reasons I eat unhealthy is because it costs way more than junk food and doesn't taste as good haha.

I eat quite a lot of junk but I do martial arts (Freestyle, MMA, and starting Jujitsu), I do these 4 times a week for an hour long.

I might have to print out some of this stuff for my dad. He's been waiting for his liver to go down before he gets gastric banding done, me and my sisters don't want him to go under the knife mainly because its a worry with his blood pressure and all his other health issues....

Minux... Perhaps you can help out with this one. Apart from walking in a pool which dad does every morning without fail, eating well, always eats red meat & vege, lots of fruit & salad, what can my dad do to loose weight? He has had 8 knee reconstructions, rather bad arthritis in his other knee, high blood pressure, cracks on his spine which he has injections in every month, he gets gout all the time too.

He was ran over by a truck 20 years ago so there is a huge amount of exercise he cant do, pretty much all he can do is walk, which he does but it seems to be doing nothing. He's only 51 and Before the accident he was like skin and bone, now he's near 160kgs. We all know his quality of life will be much better if only he could get rid of some weight, Any suggestions?

For others who want help there is a program on the net which is free, it helps you choose correct foods/brands CalorieKing.com.au - Australian Online Diet and weight loss club. Lose weight for good! you can download a program to help you keep track of what your eating. I'm not sure what its like but allot of mums on another forum swear by it.

Ive been out of work for a year now and in that time i have found that if your not working or being active then you should only be eating minimal food throughout the day. your body doesn't need alot of energy to sit around & do nothing so everything you eat turns to fat.
