    Default Sick of it!!!

Hoons in skirts the new road risk | NEWS.com.au

Apart from the comment regarding Commodores being "the hoon's car of choice", why did a 20 year old lose her car for SPEEDING??? I'm getting sick of the bull****... Yes she did the wrong thing, but she should be given a SPEEDING fine and demerit points. If she loses all her points for the one offence, then she loses her licence.

Assignment? Who do you work for? Are you doing research on it or something?

The article is pointless. The media these days does nothing buy write for the lowest common denominator.

why did she lose her licence for speeding? maybe because it was 50km over the limit? hoon laws apply to speeding when its 45km/h above the limit i think.

who cares what the article says. if its the truth, then why are we complaining. if stupid girls think theyre invincible to these new laws because only men seem to be caught by them, then i hope many more girls get their cars impounded. maybe now there will be less of them weaving in an out of traffic while putting their makeup on or chatting on their phone

WTF, that article so porrly written its not funny.... A real Journalist? A grade 5 student?

The "statistics" were so misleading, chopping and changing from boy and girls, and holden being the hoon car of choice yet none were listed in the "statistics". A Terrible article.

Fact is, the commodore is the hoons choice of car, there have been more commodores involved in accidents as a result of idiocy, more impoundings than any other brand, how is it bull****?

The hoon laws have got quite a few different people for speeding, such as the trucks doing 85 in a work zone flagged as 40 etc. While I disagree with hoon laws on the whole, the fact is they are there to try and stop people from being wankers on the road. Clearly increased fines and more points as well as stricter guidelines for P plate drivers aren't working. they need to come up with an idiot test that simply bans people from driving period or as I have stated so many times, equip these repeat offenders with GPS tracking devices and limit them to the use of that car and that car only, being found in any other car will result in hasrher penalties.

What I find amazing is 141 women caught and over 33% of those were P platers, considering combined men and women only make up 145 of all P Plate drivers, they are horrendous figures.

Anyone know what the percentage of male P platers caught were?

Hmm P platers wonder why laws are so tough now. Up until April 2008, Victoria Police had impounded 4393 cars for 48 hrs. Of that 2191 were P plate and learner drivers(191).

does that "where hoons live" thing mean that the people that get done by hoon laws are pulled over and caught in that suburb, or that they actually live there?

The reasons that the commodore is a hoons car is pretty simple, they are cheap, easy to mod, parts are cheap and the car is easy to work on and they are big enough to fit your mates into.

I think the whole hoon thing has a couple of sides, one being the media focusing on anything they can find that is negative (ever noticed how the happy story is only at the end of the news?), there are simply more people now than in years gone by so there will be a higher number of people doing the wrong thing, even though the percentage of hoons in an age gap probably wouldn't be much different and also i think the GenY attitude is slowly coming though now that they are young adults. Before I get flamed for this (I know it isn't all of you), there is a trend some of the GenY's that simply don't respect anything or anyone and this includes the road rules.

The only real solution is driver education and if you scew up too much, put your car in the crusher, take the licence away and point them to the nearest bus stop. Also minux's idea of a gps is excellent for repeat offenders.

    Well true

Seriously though, what it does tell you is most young kids are bored.

I remember growing up there was so much to do. Now, even at 30 I even get bored ****less and think about going to have some fun driving, only I NEED a licence. It's time we get some sweet theme parks and **** down here, divert attention.

look at adventure park, some people dont even know where that is. price of booze is absolutely bulls**t, makes you wanna stay sober. cant even drive your car into the city without cops giving you an EPA. alot more people are just going over to mates houses and smoking weed. cheap night with thrills while watching harold and kumar.

Dont really understand what there is to be upset about in the article, except that maybe the commodore is the hoons "car of choice".......Im sure if given a choice they'd choose a ferrari etc.....LOL.

Errr 50km over the limit in an 80 zone, is an automatic 6 month license suspension irrespective of whether she was "hooning" or not. Anyone that far over the speed limit deserves to have their car impounded.

I'm not disputing that. But she was SPEEDING not HOONING.

Really what is your definition of hooning? Just chirping your wheels etc etc?

I would have thought it was driving in a manner dangerous to all around you, for your own self-gratification. Driving 50kmh over the limit certainly could be considered hooning in my book. She certainly has driving like an idiot covered.

In any case what is the problem? The end justified the means, she had her car taken off her and lost her license for putting her own life and others in serious risk.
