Holiday Destinations

After some ideas for International holiday destinations, mrs and myself are planning a 5-7 day getaway in January, not sure where to go, so any ideas would be appreciated, cost is no issue only main thing must be at LEAST 4 star accomodation.

i stayed in a hotel in madrid, hotel madrid it was called, nice original name, beleive it was 4 start accom, was nice and close to everything in madrid, all the local flamenco dance bars were near us, and it had this excelent tapas bar down stairs. the best part was the balcanoy over looked the capital center square,you could see the royal palace from my room. was pretty sweet.

singapore was good, only really needed a week there. Most places to stay are apartments but they are well equipt. Exchange rate is good, taxis are cheap too.

Can't speak from experience but my grandmother has travelled europe, united states and through asia but still said that New Zealand is the best place she has visited.
Has been back there now 3 times so she gives it a big thumbs up.

Well my wife and I went the the US for our honeymoon in 2006. With the money we had it was either go to the US for 4 weeks or go to France for 4 days. lol. But if I remember correctly you've been to the States and have the same opinion of them as us. A bunch of F... wits

Seriously though what about Canada? If you want great outdoors and Canadians are much nicer than Americans. Really depends on what sort of holiday you want. Outdoor/treking or 5 star luxury and spa baths. Maybe France or Italy might be more you cup of tea. Maybe a cozy B&B in Ireland, Scotland or Wales countryside? Either way you should pay your local Flight Center a vist for some ideas.

USA, Canada and NZ are no goes. Also middle east no go(can go to Sydney if i want to visit middle east) Asian countries no go(we can go anywhere in melb for that).

Someone suggested to us to do an Island Cruise, meant to be great fun?

I spent 2 weeks in vanuatu, it was very nice. Stay away from the capital port villa. It is a ferral dirty hole. Go for the islands. Tanna is awsome, it has one of the worlds most accessible volcanos. The "white grass ocean" resort is the nicest place i have ever stayed in my life there.
If you spend a few days there and island hop to santo. Its nice there too, its an old island with alot of war relics as it was a massive war base way back when, so a bit too see there too. I stayed at Aore resort, and i think it was the best there, the other places looked a bit sad. Great snorkelling and scuba there too, and a wreck to dive aswell.

day dream island and around there is pretty relaxing they have cruises and stuff that go 2 the islands aroud there

my mum went on a p&o cruise and loved it.. went to vanuatu and all those small islands around there..

you normally travel during the night and stop at a new island everyday

For Australian I'd recommend popping up to the Whitsundays and use Airlie Beach as a base, there's a whole heap of day or overnight cruises you can do to a lot of the islands in the area and some fantastic accomodation options up there in terms of decent sized apartments and the like, some of which have fantastic views

So that leaves you with either Europe, Russia or Africa..... or on a boat in the middle of the Ocean.

Have done 2 boat cruises. 1 was awesome, hence the reason to go on a second. 2nd didn't work out too well. Everything was fine except the food. Half the time the only thing edible was the rice, unless you could get into the main restraunt which was alway booked out (I wonder why?)

St. Maartin in the Caribbean is probably the nicest island over there. January is a nice time there.

Mallorca is also a very nice island off the coast of Spain. While in Spain, Valencia is a definitely worth a stop.

But only being 5-7 days is a bit short to do most of this stuff. Really need 2-3 weeks. 5-7 days, just hire the penthouse at Hayman Island...

rent a fourby and see the best country in the world. Cheap and you'll see things other countries cant even begin to think about.

I know you said no america's. But the princess cruise from Seattle up to Alaska is phenomenal. January may be a little too late though, as half of it would be frozen over.

i did a cruise a few years ago, went fiji, vanuatu, new calidonia, and about 3 smaller islands, was 13 days, was easliy the best holiday ive been on,

or go to dubai, its apparently the place to be at the moment

Bali is ****, its full of aussies anyway, dubai, no thanks, as I said If i want to visit middle east will drive to bankstown lol.


Harvey are sending us out a heap of cruise details, so it looks like the cruise is the go.

How bout giving Brunei a shot? Just 2-3 days and you can easily do your shopping in singapore and Malaysia.

Next week is the holy month of Ramadan (the fasting month for Muslims) and by Oct 1-4th, you get the opportunity to visit the largest residential palace. Its something different from Bangkok or Manila, but there's little traffic here. Check out the website at bruneitourism. Tell me what you think

Everyone seems to want holidays, my folks are off this weekend, 7weeks to England and Singapore and somewhere else.
