Congrats on the new baby
My first went the same way, I was in the room for about 1 min when the doc kicked me out for an emergency c section. All I could think about at the time was that mum and baby were at least in a hospital and the docters were already there. In the end all went well and I now have 3 boys, 5, 3 and 6 months. To this day I just think he was to lazy to come out by himself.
The biggest tip I can give you is make sure you and your partner give time to each other. Going out will be hard for a while, so just rent a movie, cook a special meal or get some good take out and just hang out together.
Good Luck

Congrats! All the best to you and your new son & wish your wife a quick recovery!
Mate thats great. Congrats I hope all your days with your family are as good as mine.
Just a note to everyone having problems with baby's being fully/over devolped but not comming out on time. They don't come out until the amount of food they are getting on the inside is no long enoung to keep them growing, that's the point when pregnancy ends. If you eat a heap (too much) high calorie food and too many nutrients at the end of a pregnancy then they see no reason to get out. Then you end up 2 weeks late with a 10 pounder. If I was a girl I wouldn't eat anything once due date was close and get out of the pain easy with a more natural sized 6 pounder

I prefer eating quarter pounders!YUM!
Ermmm ok, I would go into discussion about the cervix and its involvement, also the hormones involved but doubt its going to excite you fellas too much lol.
And size means nothing....you (being females) still dilate 10cm regardless, having a smaller baby may help reuce the risk of tearing and needing stitcher's but that is all.
Size also has nothing to do with how easy it is, eg: Cody was 8lb 5oz and 18 hours labour, Billee was 9lb11oz and just under 2 hours labour.
Firstly congrats on the new bubs, I am glad to hear mum and baby are ok. Births can quite often be quite traumatic and things rarely go to plan but it sounds like you wife and baby were in good hands. Best of luck to you and your family in the future
Absolutely right there I seriously doubt what the mother is eating will effect when the baby decides to pop out or the size of the baby (unless you are eating like a pig or an anorexic). I didn't eat much when I was preggers with my son because I constantly had morning sickness I actually lost over 20kg and the little bugger was still huge 9lb 12oz and that was induced 1 week early lol
Umm... not quite right. It's true that a high calorie or high sugar diet 'may' produce a larger baby. It's actually proven that too much sugar during a pregnancy can produce a baby with a sugar dependency when they are born. Similar to a drug addiction. I'm not making this up. It's in all the books we read and even our obstetrician said the same thing. Something else to consider is that only 3% actually come on their due date. Sometimes early, sometimes late and according to our obstetrician the baby's birth weight is mostly predetermined by the fathers birth weight. To stop eating all together past the due date would be more harmful than good. That can have an affect on the mothers health and milk coming through and even past the due date the baby is still developing mentally as well as physically.
Also the pain of a labour isn't about how big the baby is. The pain is caused by the contractions which is where the cervix opens up. As most women say the worst part of any labour is the transition stage where the cervix goes from 8cm to 10cm. Friends of ours had a 6lb baby 2 months ago and described it a trip to hell. Most women who tear during delivery don't even realise they have until they've been told.
