    Well F*(k me sideways, is that so? I always thought the number referred to the vertical pixels, ie

    1280x720 was 720 i or p, depending on whether or not it is interlaced or progressive
    1920x1080 was 1080 i or p, depending on whether or not it is interlaced or progressive

    I know 1024x768 is commonly 720, since it is closer.

    1024x768 is a 4:3 resolution. You are correct

    1280x720 is 720p or i

    1920x1080 is 1080p or i

    Can anyone tell me if UK PAL games work on a Australian console?

    All PS3 games are region free (online play can be region coded based on disc though). You can't however play NTSC ps2 games on a PAL PS3 and vice versa. Blu ray is also region coded.

    Well I've contacted the Ebay Seller and he says "only if you have a PAL compatible console." well we do live in Australia which is PAL isn't it? ... therefore that meas yes it will work?

    This is the ebayer I will be getting the game from, will someone take 2 seconds to view this page and let me know that it is going to work.

    Yes, UK uses pal and it will be compatable, NTSC = USA, I believe the two top next gens are region free, though you would have to keep in mine the region locked backward compatable discs eg.. PS2 and PS1.

    Whats the difference between I & P when talking about tv's? I get one is pure and the other interlaced but whats the difference? Is P better then I?

    P is not Pure, it is Progressive.

    Interlaced forms the picture like so: line 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, etc....then line 2,4,6,8,10,12 etc until all lines are made. That is, from the top of the picture down.

    Progressive forms like so: line 1, 2, 3, 4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11 etc. If forms a much better picture this way.
