Well F*(k me sideways, is that so? I always thought the number referred to the vertical pixels, ie
1280x720 was 720 i or p, depending on whether or not it is interlaced or progressive
1920x1080 was 1080 i or p, depending on whether or not it is interlaced or progressive
I know 1024x768 is commonly 720, since it is closer.
Can anyone tell me if UK PAL games work on a Australian console?

Well I've contacted the Ebay Seller and he says "only if you have a PAL compatible console." well we do live in Australia which is PAL isn't it? ... therefore that meas yes it will work?

P is not Pure, it is Progressive.
Interlaced forms the picture like so: line 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, etc....then line 2,4,6,8,10,12 etc until all lines are made. That is, from the top of the picture down.
Progressive forms like so: line 1, 2, 3, 4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11 etc. If forms a much better picture this way.
