I can hardly see what i'm typing...
Today at work i was changing over an anderson plug on a 48 volt, 500 amp forklift battery..
Screwdriver accidentally slipped and slid on both contacts and arced like all hell.
Next thing i know i'm stumbling around completly oblivious to what just happened, a fu**ing nasty shock and half blind...
Just got back from the hospital then and i'm in utter pain and i can barly see...
Bloody lucky i was
4 weeks into my apprenticeship and i've already fu**d up....
great...

that has got to be one of the best starts to any aprenticeship i have heard of yet.
i am the god of britany spears womanizer on just dance on the wii
first day of my apprenticeship at 15 and i was asked to move some panels around, first one i picked up slid and cut my hand, 5 stitches later i was keen as to get back to work, never did that again!!
Eye pain hurts doesnt it?? a bit more than people think i suffer from an eye disease called keratoconous and recenlt had cornea grafts becasue they warped and thinned out of shape, i know how grief and pain there is, might hurt now but itll get better soon.
come to think of it must of been a bloody long screwdriver!
You're not doing too bad. The school I teach at, some year 12's are doing work placement. One big leb who's basically a thug is doing carpentry. A couple of weeks ago he got a splinter and he was in tears crying saying he's dying and needed an ambulance. Word got back to his teachers and we all had a good laugh.![]()
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!
Don't be stupid. Power isn't measured by the size of your tacho
I can top that.
3rd day starting my first full time job (just left school), managed to slice my tendon on my little finger, which rendered me on work cover for a year. Was coincidently my 18th birthday that it happened.
Got to spend the night in the Juvenille ward (= no sleep)

And he couldnt open his eyes for ages. Scary stuff.

what's the link between the eyes and electrocution?
its the same as welders flash. irritation, burns and tearing
for anyone who hasnt had a flash before or had eye problems, it feels like sand being poured onto your eye, the gritty, burning irritating feeling stops you dead in your tracks and your eyes get forced shut.Theres been times where i havent been able to physically open my eyes for 2 days straight because of photophobia, irritation and tearing.
It was an electric forklift battery and i was just changing the plug over so the contacts are about 4 centermeters apart - short screw driver
Yeh i should have used an insulated screw driver, i just wasn't thinking..
I didn't poop but i was damn close =D
Yeh, my eyes are still very sore, but it's barable now, i just gotta stop rubbing my eyes...
The flash i got was the same as welders flash, it's just a massave ray of ultra violet light that litterally burns the cornia of the eyes.
I got a fair shock but i couldn't have dies as theres wasn't enough voltage to carry the massave current.
cheers guys

some nasty accidents here, especially that phase 3 thats some serious ****! hope your up to snuff soon nigs' you'll be back on the forklifts in no time. i gave myself a nice little jolt back in year 8 (two paper clips in a socket, a small wager - these things happen).
vnv8driver - keratoconus is a real mother****er; i dread the day glasses arent good enough - tried the hard contacts which i couldnt stand... not good hope your prognosis after the grafts is good

Hey mate, everyone i know did that kinda stuff through their mechanic apprentiships. It's all apart of learning, if you never stuffed up and did everything so pedantic and over cautious, there would be something wrong.
It's all apart of the learning boat mate. A mate of mine was working on a van and did the same thing you did but with a shifter.
i did that by dropping 50+ kgs of steel on my foot,
working in rain + Hydraulic oil on hands = droping of large heavy items onto foot
needless to say the job we where doing was a month long refit and the afternoon after work we had a bbq to celebrate the completion of it, by the time we got back the toe had stoped hurting by then so i downed 5 sausage sangas and 2 drinks drove home picked up mum and went to hospital haha
i got two days off for it,
