Default Kids to get a McEducation.

The State govenrment, instead of spending its own money on education in areas seen to be lacking, instead wants private companies to foot the bill.

this could be a positive, with underfunded areas given a huge cash injection and, depending on the company involved, hugely better off. HP or other IT companies could create a whole school/generation of computer science buffs starting from primary school age.

the only thing is, why do we need private companies (who pay taxes anyway) to pay for schooling kids, when taxes are paid for this very reason?
Once (if) this starts i suspect less and less will be spent on educatation, allowing the private sector to pick up the cost.

Love the idea of somehow getting more money in schools, but i hope there is a safety that ensures it doesn't affect the curriculum at all.
Like in your example, say we pick up finding from Apple, there shouldn't be any extra put into ICT just because an ICT company is funding.

Should be a no strings attached money injection with perhaps a bit of newsletter advertising or the odd special event with something to do with a major sponsor.

We don't need more computer science kids. Need more welders, fitter/turners and sheet metal workers.

I can't find a decent one for love of money!

Last time I checked we paid taxes to fund public services. Schools being one of them. If the government wants private enterprise to fund education, I want my tax back!
