Default A Picture speaks a thousand words...

While going through my various daily routine of reading certain blogs, I come across this.

The above Image was shot by Brent Stirton, he won the Visa d'Or Feature Award for his work on covering this issue of the sluaghtering of the Congo gorillas by the military.

Seriously sit back and look at the fear in the gorilla's eyes. For me it has a major impact, sure it may not effect everyone else the way it has me, but it shows what such a cruel race we are.

It then made me think back and think about things, something come to mind that readily passed over my head at the time, Koala's. What has happened to them? I did a walk the other week, 21k return. I remember as a child the area was full of koala's. I did not see a single one. While thinking about this 60 minutes aired a story about koalas, which was quite interesting.

As a people we need to stop developing outwards, we need to stop forcing creatures which cannot adapt as easily as ourselves further and further out. Before we know it, they will be gone and we will be kicking ourselves over it.

Anyways...something to think about.

Now that you mention it, I havent seen a Koala in ages. Last time would of been at the zoo on holidays. I live in a country area, drive country roads and regularly go camping and it would be well over a year since I seen one

i see them quite regularly out in the country roads where i work most of the time

but thats the thing 99% of the time u CANT see them because they have great camoflage and can hide in the trees. Some days you can hear them- but cant see them

a guy at work was driving his truck down a quiet road, where he found a branch across the road- with a koala on it munching on leaves, when he went to move the branch out the way, it started hissing and growling at him lol :P

head down my way, they are sterilising them now because they are in plague proportions and eating themselves out of home.

Gorilla picture does have impact. great shot.

Ever seen Tears of the Sun?, some of the armies arn't much better to humans. It is a shame that stuff like this happens, there are many examples. Thing is though, unless we stop population expansion now, animals will keep getting pushed back and there will be less room for them to roam. In Canberra you see dead kangaroos near the road all the time (just looking for some fresh grass), tis sad but what ya gunna do?

Bahaha well picked up

The situation with the koalas reminds me of the same problem faced (no pun intended) by Tasmanian Devils. Incase people didn't know there is a serious issue with facial tumours.

we have koalas where i live. We are not out woop woop (from town) we are on 2.5 acres and fairly built up area. There was a heap of them but sadly they are now not as common around here, sure we do see them around a fair bit but not as much as we used to. The other week i was comming home from work (night) and saw something moveing slowly on the road, i slowed........was a white koala......
.Sadly i do have to admit that when i was driving home with me sis (sis driveing) there was this figure/animal that went under her right front tyre..........at the time we didnt know what it was..... (walking slowely and not like a dog/cat) but after seeing the one the other week i now know............feel really bad about it but was nothing we could do...came from the right and jumped under wheel......

but we have koalas....hairs (wish it was a hair) heaps of birds....kangaroos..............even a bloddy ****ing huge assed dog that comes around (this thing is huge
