Here is the deal... my girl has a competition at her work. Basiclly you wear a pedometer all day and keep a record of your steps. The winner is the person who walks from Brisbane to Cairns. I am doing up a spreadsheet on Excel that keeps a record of days, steps, distance and averages but I also want to do a cell which shows (by using the daily average) how many days to go until the target is reached. I have no idea what formula to write in the cell... HELP!!!
Wont something simple as "=***-SUM(B1:B8)" work? With *** being total distance that need to be travelled and B1:b8 the cells in which distances travelled for each day are in? So all it does is add up what shes done and subtract from total distance required... Or am i missing the point?
ha your mrs being roped into that to, i doing it for work, on yesterday (friday) i got 19,580that extra 9,000 is from mowing my gramps lawn,
im averaging approx 11,000-13,000 a day

Ive shown how to do this on the attached pic of a spreadsheet, all you need to do is enter the kms travelled each new day. Ive assumed its 2000km from bris to cairns
I have provided 2 views of the same spreadsheet in the attached pic, the 1st is formula view, the second is the values obtained for the six days i have entered.
You can change the view from formula view in the cells back to values by pressing (ctrl + `)
The formula does rely on you to actually enter the km and/or the number of steps travelled each day to come up with the correct answer. I initially created a formula that would work out the number of days according to what date it was, but removed it to keep it simple
Hope this is of help, and ask if you are unsure.
Cheers.

Troy if it doesn't work give me a call my wife is a wiz on excel. She will be able to help you.
Use the proper daily distance, not my estimated distance.
