I was on my way home the other night and as i was going up a hill my alternator/water pump belt snapped and so i chucked it in neutral cause i have a manual, and coasted the the rest of the hill and off onto a sideroad cause it was a highway and shut the engine off. by that time the engine was really hot so im half on the road and half on the footpath. i open the bonet parkers on and hazard lights on. i call my brother and he comes out to help get back home... as we are waiting the police pull up and ask what happened so we told them then they start going on about how i had to have been revving my engine off its head and racing my brother to make it snap cause there is no other way an engine belt can snap. we were like wtf and said no so they floored off down the road... they didnt offer to help or anything else like that... just accused me of hooning then left...
for some reason i get pulled over a bit... i dont drink and i have a full license with no points missing and never been in trouble with the police... it seems just cause i like to drive a nice car they want to annoy me... lots of the police officers are nice and i have a bit of a chat with them as they give me the "random" breath test... but also heaps of them are just pricks and refuse to talk or just have an attitude if i try to talk to them... anyone else had similar problems with the police?
It is funny, everyone I know who has trouble with the police usually ask for it for whatever reasons. I am yet to meet anyone who keeps getting pulled over and harassed for driving normally.
Guess Police must be different in Melbourne.![]()

^^ pretty much. in melbourne, it depends what day/night youre driving. if its a friday night, dont expect any help if youre pulled over with hazards on. youll be seen as a hoon 99% of the time

Not knocking the local cops around here, but two incidents that ring alarm bells are the following:
Last year pulled up at a local RBT on my L's, blow in, machine beeps, they look at me "are you sure havent been drinking". I was like yeah, and he goes well u've blown a reading, lets try it again... I blow again, didnt blow a reading.. Free to go.
Went for a drive with my brother just the other night, same thing except hes full licenced and they said he was over the limit and would have to go back to the station blah blah, I asked for a second test (id been with him for the whole arvo I knew he hadnt been drinking), what do you know... Didnt blow a reading, make us wait 5 minutes and do it again, no reading... free to go... But seriously WTF!!!
up here in sydney i have been "RBT" to many times to remember, the cops usually follow me for a hundred metres or so then pull me over and ask for a test. having said that i do work friday saturday nights and finish between 10 and 1, plus i have to pass two stations regardless of how i head home, that might have something to do with it, but 4 times in one night is my record.
I work lots of nights as well so usually get pulled over on my way home from work at least once a week and it's no big deal as I know I haven't done anything wrong
Depending on the areas you are driving around in and what time of day/night it there may just be a reason for them pulling you up
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?
Under cover cars don't have lights on the dash. You'll never be able to tell an under cover car. What would be the point of it being under cover?
Chances are you saw an unmarked car.
Probably still hasn't changed the globes in that parcel shelf light bar he had....![]()

haha, used to get pulled over at least 2-3 times a week driving home from work when i had my vl, and my record was 3 times in one day.
now i have a vt, and have only been pulled over once for a roadside rbt thing, and ive owned it for 5 months, and take the same way home from work, lol vl's just look derro i guess =P
my ride [ vt - no style ]
MEH! cops are pretty good to me usually, considering my car is illgeally low, exhaust is to loud, its a vn? need i say more because the list will keep going?
Out of all the times i have been pulled over, 1 was an arse and i was in a sus area, so it happens..... But all the rest were fantastic, just talk to them like there not wearing the uniform (since they are human)
I used to think they were all bad but THEN i realized they have a hard job to do, so why make it harder by busting there balls.
So pretty much what im saying is, dont worry about it![]()
Wow, that cops sounds like a royal **** sucker. Hope you got the car all fixed!
i got pulled over last year for driving on the footpath (wtf) breathtested and told my passengers weren't wearing there seatbelts and given an on the spot fine for a thousand dollars and five points when i questioned him he got abusive and started swearing at me i got home and never paid the fine waiting for the court summonse and haven't heard about it since. kinda weird!!! commodore driver musta done his missus?
Im sure cops have a tape recorder in their pocket for when they ask you 'were you speeding' if you say yes its on tape, so puts him **** out of luck on that case especially with his bad language. If anything i would be trying to get him out of a job.
Viccop do they have recorders to tape conversations or what??
some have a mic on them and the recorder in the car and some of them also have cameras too.
most of my dealings have been easy so i have no problem if i get pulled over
Chev badges are an instant fail
My dad is an old school tow truck driver and he taught me the game from a young age, i know they used to do it (and dad had one of the models they used to use) but wasnt too sure if thats what they still do today.
In that case, mate dont worry about it, im sure if he has a brain he will know that theres you and your mates versus him, which if he has done that once he most likely has a record of behaviour such as what happened to you.
Something i learnt is that you dont let these corrupt cops walk over you because they think they stand taller, ive been a victim of it before, they have to have proof to convict you, no proof (admittance on tape recorder) than no fine.
Then again, if a matter escalates to court, you will soon find out whos telling the truth or not, if that happens stand up and tell it how it happened.
In NSW, the Highway Patrol police are equipped with tape recorders. Before they can do anything else if they pull you over, they turn the recorder on and have to ask you if you have any objection to the conversation being recorded. If you object, the tape recorder is turned off and stays off. This was introduced to protect police against complaints made by motorists who had been pulled over, then complained to the Police Department about the officer's behaviour. Since the recorders were introduced, the number of complaints has diminished dramatically.
HWP cars also have in-car video and audio so that the actual driving offence and "pull over" can be filmed. Again, evidence for any court hearing that arises, and protection against complaints from motorists.
Police are attracted to certain types of vehicle, because of the manner that type of car is often driven. That doesn't necessarily mean it was your car, but if you drive a lowered, modified VN for example, you may be checked out because of the number of them around that are driven erratically by drivers with bad records, (i.e. driving and criminal) who may have outstanding warrants. Driving around in certain well known areas at odd hours of the night can also be viewed suspiciously and it is their job to ensure community safety. That means you might be pulled over to be checked out, too. The cops are busy enough with the multitude of jobs they have to respond to without wasting their time picking on drivers at random, apart from RBT operations.
on the goldcoast theres is next to no cops on the road, and at night its worse (if you stay out of the surfers area) actually me and a mate were saying the other day that we hadnt seen a cop on the road in a while and that there is NO cop shop open after 5pm 7 days a week in my area, the ONLY 24 hour cop shop is on scarborough street (near surfers)
Next time a police officer pulls you over, takes his/her note pad out of the top pocket & flips it open, consider the conversation taped!
Though they will never tell you that!
as soon as they ask you if they can tape the convo say yes as long as you can too and then you also write or tape everything.
ive always heard from people that as soon as a rbt turns into a defect check or whatever you should record it...too many wierd stories out there.
Need some parts for my VH 253:
Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.
PM with any info.
I don't think they need to declare the taping bit, if they are recording for their 'personal reference'.
The tape may not be presentable in court, but assists in writing their notes.
