Default What is a good thrash about car...but reliable

    howdy all,

basicially chasing some advice/info on a good lil thrash about car thats cheap and easy to fix and something i can treat like a pig and will keep coming back for more...

ideas i have so far are a gemini, ford cortina, VL, any rx series mazda (prefer an rx 4 :P) or an old torrie.

want i really wanna do with this hack is just turn it into a punishable weapon...something to take to burnout comps, mates paddocks anywhere i can beat the **** out of it...lol, so whats a good lil hack for this job...was thinkin a VL (only cuz we used to have one as a paddock basher and the only thing that killed it was running out of fuel lol)

anyway let the advice/stories/opinions fly...btw i don't wanna spend more then 1k on this hack. :P

    cheers all

just a quick tip, mazda RX series and reliable can not be used in the same sentence, so i would cross that of your list straight away.

to me your best bet would be the vl, will most likely be the cheapest, and parts shouldnt be hard to find

lol yea just realised i said that :P but you just can't beat the ol RX's for thrashing ability...mates dad knows them like the back of his hand, always said if i got a 4 he'd spend countless hours playing with it cuz he misses his old one :P

A VL man. Pretty strong motors. Bolt a turbo on it, get it tuned, lock the diff and it will last for ages.

My first VL was basicaly my thrash car. My sister owns it now (bought it off me about 4 years ago) and it still runs now, and hasn't had a service since she's owned it. I'm too scared to change the oil, incase it ****s something up. If it aint broken, don't fix it.

I've had 4 VLs, and they all just keep going and going (anyone who's seen the vids of the new owner of the VL Ute will know the punishment he put it through, and it still goes)

Anything RWD, manual and carby would be ideal and easy to fix. Are you planning on driving it on the roads legally during the week and then having fun on weekends, or just having it on a farm to thrash?

If you want a reliable car tray top hilux. Make sure its a petrol one, then turbo it, change the diff ratios, and strip its guts out. It will hammer

Its possible. Ive heard of people running N/A injectors and N/A ecu without problems. So basically all you need is turbo, exhaust manifold and dump pipes to cat, crossover pipe and the air filter piping thing. Think I paid around $400 for the above mentioned.
