Default is there a point having a nice car?

is there a point having a nice car? I'm just about given up on having anything im proud of because of scumbags. Last night i was at the GF's parents shack by the seaside and about midnight we all started to go to bed. i was lying in my swag in the lounge room about to fall asleep and heard what sounded like an early model V6 commodore and some commotion, then a loud bang then laughs followed by the car speeding off.

I went outside to check my car but couldnt see any damage so i managed to wake my GF's old man up to move all the cars further down the drive so i could fit mine behind the gates incase they came back. This morning i got up to go for a walk to get the paper and found damage, someone with a sling shot had fired at my panel. i dont understand the mentality of scumbags. just because i work long and hard hours, spend years saving they get jealous and decide to vandalise my car.

this will just teach me to drive the crapbox falcon everywhere from now on.

oh well, had my whinge and feel better for venting lol. i wish i seen the car and got the plates.

yeh the 22 is a nice rig. It wont stop the scum bags but if you get something like that its made to be hammered around you wont care about a dent. thats my thinking anyways

yep. it doesn't matter how well you look after you pride and joy. take it out anywhere and you risk damage from ********s who will damage it because it's not there's and they just don't car. shopping center carparks are one of my pet hates. last year when i was at the local theme park with the family someone sat on the missus car with fresh sunblock on. i happen to see it from the roller coaster i was on at the time. when i got back to the car later the sunblock had burnt into the clear coat

i think they were aiming for the window, maybe if they wernt so ****ed they might have got it and i would be a lot happier, free one through insurance and there is a nice wiper arm scratch right across it.

Mate i got this similar dint that can only be seen on a funny angle, Now i wondered for so long what done it, My auntie comes over once a week, And she smokes outside and leans on my car, That in itself isn't going to do anything, But turns out she leans on her side and puts her keys in her back pocket as to not scratch the car, Keys are 30 on one chain, She has dinted it in.
All the care in the world never helps, It is almost not worth it sometimes.

i empathise with you man, i really do. thats something i really get worked up about - people (usually pricks who dont know the value of a dollar or a hard days work) deliberately damaging other peoples property for kicks.
ive been thinking of getting a ****ter to drive about to work and such, but having two cars is expensive, even just having a second ****ter.
it still has to be rego'd and insured (third party property at least in my opinion - i aint going into debt to pay for someone elses car if i have an accident) and have maintenance done (if its a cheapo car its going to have things break).
so every time i really want to get another car i always come to the conclusion i cant bloody afford it - meanwhile with every passing week when i wash mine i find another mark/scratch somewhere from some prick who's pushed a trolley along next to it or opened their door onto it, etc...
you just cant win, you build up and work on a car to make it nice and something your proud of, then some loser goes and ****s that all up for you!

I love to have a law brought in to hit scum like this where it really hurts. Something like take or break two of their possessions for every one of ours.

Yesterday afternoon my wife was visiting someone. So ****wits broke off the drivers side mirror and then sped off. It's a 91 Laser but thats beside the point. It's OUR car and not someone elses. We work damn hard and paid cash money for it. Why should someone else think they can do what they want to it.
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!

I was wondering the same thing. Next year when I will start working full time I will be able to afford a new car. But incidents like this really turn me off. You work hard, and them some punk creates mindless damage to your pride and joy. Unfortunately there is little respect for each others property these days, maybe I should stick my XF with half-million kays, at least I don't get (as) angry if that gets damaged.

you might be lucky enough to have it panel beated out, then again ... hmm

My bonnet got hit by a golf ball sized rock thrown from an overpass on the motorway. Im thankful it didnt hit the windscreen and was happier to hear the bastards got arrested about 3 weeks later, but Im ****ed at where it did hit because at cost im looking at a $500 repair bill. It hit just above the headlight, which means the reinforcement has to be removed, the dent beated out, reinforcement welded back in, then whole thing painted and blended in. It couldve at least hit the damn headlight, I have a spare set sitting here from when I upgraded to the SV6 lights. woulda been cheaper to replace the headlight too

chers for the comments guys. fluted vents would be nice but i kinda like the smooth sleeper-look, it has no badges of kit to give away the V8. but might give me an excuse to get rid of the spoiler while its in a panel beater. if there mixin the paint anyways....

Comes with the territory im afraid,i sold a car i had once just because somebody spat on it.I was so fed up with stressing about where i parked it,if i could see it,etc etc.Just had enough, drove a bomb for a while but got straight back into it again.
I had a 66 Pontiac that was a 3 times Summernats entrant and that got doused with brake fluid. It had just been done and tried to save it but was too late.I got a full respray out of it but it still ****es you off.PS i knew who did it and revenge was sweet.

Although I haven't had anything bad happen to my car. I hate the idea of being careful with where I park it etc etc etc. I've decided I'm selling up and buying a cheap run about.

my mates dad had one of the first BA GT-Ps in NSW a few years back, back when they were rare on the road, and he used to park it in the library 15 minute drop off zone parking, and stand there and watch it when he took the family shopping!!! Sucks to think you cant have a nice car because some low life will damage it.

The other day i was @ the shops and went in to get some stuff, now as i walk out of the shops i see the missus getting out of the car and start checking the passenger rear door, turns out the guy next 2 us got out and had hit our door, the missus was ****ed ect and i had a look and there was no marks/dents left and the blokes car actually looked rather nice, so i explained to the missus, that there was no marks/dents & the blokes car was well looked after (u could see it had just been polished) so i let it slide! had there had been a dent on my door and the bloke had an attitude then its safe to say when he returned to his car he would have found his drivers side door panel or front guard kicked in
I don't go looking for fights but if someone has no regard for my stuff well im sorry but i have little to no regard for them
P.s DVSV8 im sorry to hear about your car mate! The only thing i can reccomend is to have a fire bomb on stand by stashed under your house somewhere to launch @ the ****ers should they come back

Speaking of damage done to cars, how many times do you here of someone getting a new car (or newer model to what they had) and then some thing always seems to happen to do some sort of damage to their car? and it always seems to be the people who love their cars When i first got my calais less than a week after getting it, some tosser with a trailer did not secure his tools in the back, and a tire bar (the star shape type+) came out the back hit the road bounced about 2 meters in the air and was headed straight for my bonnet/windscreen! i managed to swerve of the road and it hit just under my front guard putting a nice little chip in the fron bottom bumper: anyway spose things like this are always bound to happen when you have a nice car!

just had dents away come have a look and they decided to give the dent a go and they got it out, they did a magnificent job and anyone in adelaide, i would highly recommend them. cost $100 (mates rates through work). i'll def be going back for more work if i need it in future. normal rate would have been around $180 and i think that would be a good price.
