HSV unveils 40th anniversary GTS and new SV08 - [Holden Special Vehicles GTS and Senator Signature SV08] - MotorAuthority - Car news, reviews, spy shots
Holden Special Vehicles (HSV), the official performance arm of GM’s Aussie subsidiary, has unveiled two new models at today’s Sydney Motor Show, commemorating the 40th anniversary of its GTS performance badge and reviving the SV nomenclature for the latest E-Series range of cars.
HSV’s E-Series is based on the humble VE Commodore produced by Holden but is closer in spec to the Pontiac G8 GXP due early next year.
The Gran Turismo Sportivo (GTS) badge was first used by Holden for its 1968 HK Monaro but later joined the HSV fleet, appearing on the 1992 268hp (200kW) VP GTS. To commemorate 40 years of the GTS badge, just 100 specially released models will be built, featuring black heritage stripes, tire pressure monitors and a commemorative logo embedded on the headrest, brake calliper, sill plate and rear panel.
The Senator Signature SV08, meanwhile, is the latest iteration of the SV88 model first revealed 20 years ago. The Senator Signature SV series is more of a luxury-performance cruiser rather than an all-out sports model, and comes equipped with exclusive paint schemes, sill plates, 20in alloys, and full leather trim. Both six-speed automatic and manual models are available and only 50 units will be built.
All HSV Commodores, except the LS7-powered W427, come with a 425hp (317kW) LS3 engine developing a healthy 406lb-ft (550Nm) of torque.
Also on show in Sydney is the 505hp (375kW) W427 and the latest ClubSport R8 Tourer wagon.

They both look worse than the standard GTS and Senator though.
You would think they would give it a tune and add an extra 20-30 kw to make it worth people buying. Seems pointless buying special editions with the same power as every other.

The GTS looks great, love it,but those mags on the Senator....just don't look right. Agreed Minux about more power, even if they had a revised suspension or something like that, something to set it apart from the rest.
hows those farking brakes!!!!!!
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
Senator rims yuk..
SV08 looks the goods, Not a fan of the strips, But on this they look pretty good.

Good old days???
The likes of the SV5000, VN Group A, SV91, etc. People used to get excited about seeing a HSV on the road, now they just blend in with all the SS's and SV6's. There is nothing special about them anymore. They think it's special because it has a new badge and some stripes, in the early days a special run was like 30 cars, different body kit, different interior, better engines (like the 5th anniversary range), etc

Agreed there, once VR's and VS's come into production it was no longer a privilege to own a HSV, almost every person had one. Even now you see so many newer clubby's around its unbelievable. That being said, I'd prefer a HSV over the standard Holdens only because of the nice little extras you get, makes it worthwhile.

Couldnt have said it better! i completly agree, theres nothing unique about hsv's anymore, i barely turn my head if i see one, yeh there a nice car but thats it, nothing to make you wanna look and go WOW! same as ford, they bought out the 40th anniversary GT, its just a GT with gold strips and different wheels. Bring back the days where like airstrike said the sv5000, group A etc
Mines 0144, not even sure how many were built.
Even the older HSV's now are being raped by people.
Hey hang on, wtf? Didnt you buy yours thinking it was a mock up one lol?

it had too many little things wrong with it. dash badge was different to build number, different rear wing, no rear decal, so the previous owner didnt know what he had really. but yeah, score for me. paid about half the price what a real clubby was worth

HSV isnt anything to get wet between the legs over anymore. It's a marketing tool and a brand-name. That's it. They're mass produced, and still have all the same problems as the base model.
