What is a good driver???

Ok you guys tell me what you think a good driver my friend was telling me the other day that when she was innn europe forget were but they were driving and a guy came off his motorbike and was seriously injured and everyone drove around him lol and ignored the man and she said good drivers here wouldnt do that how many ppl would have actually stopped????

In all seriousness, it would have to be a driver who just drives (doesn't do anything else while driving, like eating, drinking, smoking, etc), can concentrate amongst distractions like kids, or drunk mates behaving like 3 year olds, drives to the conditions and knows what to do in an emergency situation. ie someone who has had advanced driver training

I'd stop if no one else was already attending, however I think that's more courtesy and legality than actually making a good driver. I would agree with what BullittSv6 just stated, except that I would edit that last bit to "knows what to do in an emergency situation" because while it probably helps to do an advanced driver training course, if you've been in the same situations that an advanced driver training course puts you through, and have managed to come out the other side then you're already equipped to deal with the same situation, and even if you didn't come out the other side without a scratch or two, you hopefully learnt how to react to the situation better for next time

I can drive reading a newspaper, while having a shave, while drinking a coffee, while eating a donut and talking on my mobile at the same time, i think that makes me good, might start smoking so I can be an even betterer driver

road surfaces are pretty crap in W.A. actually maybe not all, but a lot of them are...just drive out of the city and you will find pot holes, even on major highways :-S

To me, A good driver is someone who doesn't cause accidents, And doesn't disrespect others on the road, A driver who knows the road rules well and stick to them.


Couple of years back i was behind a head on, I stopped, More because if that was me I'd like help, That doesn't make you a good driver, I think it makes you a decent person for doing the right thing, And thats stopping to offer assistance.

Confidence (but not P-plate over confidence)
Knowledge of road rules
Knowledge of 'unwritten' road rules (IE good road etiquette)
General knowledge of basic car maintainence

I would have stopped. I also ride a bike, I know what its like to come off on the road, and I also know that while there are a lot of cowboys on bikes that ride like ********s, there are also a a lot of motorcyclists that come off simply because some car drivers had no idea what a "head check", "indicators" or "mirrors" are for.
