When I bought my VB it had a near new battery in it, only about 3 months old, and it was dead flat. I took it to AutoPro and they tested it and said it was cactus. I told them they may as well keep it (I knew they held onto those sorts of things and cashed them in at the end of the year for their xmas show, and as I'm mates with them it didn't bother me that they were gonna get a few dollars for it).
The other day when putting a new carpet in my car I found a receipt for the battery and it said it had 12 months warranty on it.....and well the warranty runs out May 2009.
I went back to AutoPro and got the battery back off them and took it to the place where it was originally purchased. They said they'll try and charge it and see wat happens.....but apparently the warranty stays with the person who bought it??
I find this a bit dodgy, is it normal for the warranty to stay with the original purchaser? Or am I getting done over? If worst comes to worst I'll give the receipt to the previous owner (We're mates) and we'll see wat they say when he walks in with it.
It does have his name on the receipt, but I thought I'd still be able to use it as it's now mine as it was in the car I bought.

Sounds ffairly normal to me, it all depends on the product and what their disclaimer is. I bought a Canon 5D from a friend, just before the warranty expired the shutter spring popped out and screwed the auto focus. Sent it off and Canon honoured no worries, their warranty states it will stay on the product for 12 months from purchase even if changing hands.
Ive read warranties that state original purchaser is the only one entitled to the warranty.
