Why do people find Kath and Kim funny?

Well, after a car accident on Saturday I was left to spend some alone time in the hospital for a few days while i recovered.

Friend of mine bought in a portable dvd player and a few various dvd's as what was on the TV just sucked and the downside of private hospitals is a private room. Anyways, one of the DVD's they bought in was a Kath and Kim dvd, having run out of movies to watch I thought, what the hell, surely it can't be that bad if it is so popular.

What a big mistake that was...I failed to see any of the humour, in fact, it made me frustrated at how stupid it was. I find it hard that Australians actualy find this show funny, has the nation really dumbed down so much as to enjoy a stereotypical bogan TV show?

Could somebody please tell me why this is so popular? It was seriously brain numbing, so much so that I decided it would be more fun to lie in my uncomfortable hospital bed and stare at the roof.

Its funny because, well, lets face it, we all know people that remind us of Kath and Kim, right? Not to mention that they're just so...well....boganish. For the record, the original Australian version absolutely kills the crappy yank version that was on telly on Sunday night.

Stuffed if I know, I have wondered the same myself I can't beleive they made the first Aussie version let alone a yank version. I would rather stare at the roof too!

The only thing I can think of is well - we feel good knowing have to be smarter than the drop kicks on this show.

US ver of Kath & Kim is going to be know as one of the worst shows ever. What a wast of time and money - Mega Fail.

PS Tell me it was not the VY sig that got broke in the accident.

minux, I think your accident has damaged your funny bone mate, you should put a claim in on your third party bodily insurance for loss of aussie sense of humor. there is far to many serious t.v. programs on, it is nice to watch something light hearted and silly and of course it's not for everyone. did you ever watch there old shows full frontal,fast forward etc..? I find it similar to those .

It was caused by some geriatric old **** failing to give way and hitting us while doing 80 km/hr(they then had the nerve apparently to try and tell police that we failed to give way while driving ont he highway?) It is all in my brothers statement, I was rushed off in a meat wagon, so didn't get to see all the exciting stuff . Thankfully my brother did not have his son in the car, where it was hit, any passenger in the rear would of been killed instantly I dare say. I wish I had of been drunk though, would of hurt a little less. Oh was a VX SS thatw as totalled too, not my ****box. I wish it had of been the sig, at least it has side air bags.

I dunno, I always liked it. But the very first series was the best, after that it wasn't as good.

But you say you were in hospital after your VX SS had been totalled, of course you're not gonna be in the mood to watch Kath and Kim and laugh lol.

I have not sat down to watch an episode at all - but have watched some bits from time to time and some of the one liners are funny - yes.

The only thing that saves the show is one of the actors drives a VN on the show How cool is that

i voted yes BUT it isn't funny haha, more amusing. Like someone else said - they tend to remind us of people we know.
Having said that i've only seen it a couple of times. It certainly isn't on my recording list.

This will make me look sillier than someone who watches Kath & Kim, but if i want to watch a show where i don't have to think about the jokes (but in saying that, is also VERY immature), i chuck on my Beavis and Butthead DVD's.

Managed to catch the US version of Kath and Kim the other night. Worse than the Aussie one. So tacky and well, American lol.
