The responses of many in this thread say they perform actions which are intended to annoy the guy behind. Stupid.

I do agree a touch with you - some have extreme ways of dealing with these people. I just shed some speed as i know they are in some massive hurry. But if there is 2 lanes and they can pass but choose to sit behind me and in my opinion being smart, I'll cut some speed as I'm not in a hurry. So i invite them to pass on by. More then likely I'll pass the hidden cop car, And they wont.

So you sped up and drove past them very quickly obviously. Nice one dude, causing another danger on the road besides the idiot who tailgated you and your neons you have that could make a blind man blind all over again.

Good work I'd rather slow down by 20kms and let the person behind me floor it around me and hopefully lose control and die on impact when he or she wraps their car around a pole down the road, taking no innocent people with them.

I used to have a lexus IS200 which was great for people tailgating as it had the bright red fog lights at the rear. i never had to hit the brakes i just turned them on and take off. i realize it just ****es them off more but seriously get off my ass as the speed limit is there for a reason! if it said lets go 120km id be going 120km too. lol.

i do a lot of highway driving and one thing i HATE is those massive trucks that tailgate. i usually give them the finger and take off into the other lane but last time i got the company and plates off the truck and made an official complaint to the company. they said they delt with the driver but i think they just said that to me to keep me happy.

What a load of ****. I have worked for many transport companies and even now provide management support roles to many, if you think these complaints are not listened you are really mistaken, especially in your brand name companies. As for most highway drivers are arseholes, again another load of crap, do you know how many drivers are out there? That said, I do an odd local job when I get the chance for a certain company to keep my skills up, the way car drivers are around trucks, you can understand why some have this attitude. Try driving a B-Double through Melbourne and then see what your attitude is like.

Unfortunately this does not just happen in trucks, it happens with cars also, people that have this attitude especially in heavy vehicles should not be on the road in any vehicle.

Depends on the situation really - but in most cases, if there's someone up my arse and I'm in the right lane, with nothing holding me up apart from sensibility from going faster - I'll jump in the left lane and let them go past... - not enough time in my life to spend it annoying people on purpose

Otherwise if I'm in the right lane, being held up by the car in front... with someone right up my arse, I'll just keep a safeish distance to the car in front and hope they catch on , if not, slowing down a little later than 'comfortable' for those tailgating for slow/stopped traffic up ahead usually gets the message accross....

and if all else fails, I could do with a new car anyway. - and usually I find it's the pricy cars tailgating - so chances of insurance are good I reckon. lol

but now I understand why there's so much traffic when everyone is just in a hurry to get to work apparently some people are too good to let people past and have to prove something by doing half the speed limit

funnily enough i dont do it on roads in which over taking would cause a head on collision, im not stupid enough(however stupid i may be) to do it on the roads that are 2 lanes, one way each

If I'm doing the speed limit and someone tail gates, then I'll generally speed up to about 5-10km/h over the limit.

If they then keep tail gating, then I immediately drop my speed to 10km/hr under the limit.

Plenty of gestures and verbal insults have been exchanged with this method, but the way I see it is I do give them a bit of grace by speeding up a little bit. If they persist and then get cranky about it, then its their problem not mine.

highly doubt he had high beams on. probably just looked that way due to the ride height difference. he was probably just trying to see if you would break the law by speeding ahead

I simply do the speed limit, or the speed that is safe considering the conditions. If they want to go faster than me, congrats. Find some broken lines, an overtaking lane or a dual carriageway and be done with it.
