Fresh out of the academy constable is on about 47,000 a year. Ok so maybe it buys 1 and a half constables Either way, there are better ways to spend VicPol's money rather than buying these flash cars that do nothing but give people something to talk about.

Hell if you want to get Police Presence up, get them driving around in a hot pink Astra, a third of the price and double the laughs.

I'd say more, it cost something like 700k to pay, train and ship out an infantry soldier back in 1997. I would imagine a Police Officer wouldn't be far off that as a state cost outlook.

Yeah fair point... My RAAF ATC Officer Training from civilian to ready for deployment was about $1.5m.

Hey noticed this was a victorian chat...Just wondering what unmarked cars you guys got goin round down there? Up here we got a couple of black hummers, 2 done up malloo utes, an R8 (at least one that i've seen) couple of aurions and libertys and XR6 turbo.

Heard stories about the Queensland coppers doing that....I'm the same, have a heavy foot but once I hit the speed limit basically take it off.

We have your basic cars, Omega, the new Falcons, Territory, the Mitsubishi 380, seen a Jeep. I havn't really seen much else

Yeah, the 2 maloos get people all the time, they have stickers and exhaust on and stuff on em so you wouldn't even know til theyre in your mirror with nicely hidden lights in the grill.

Seen one guy that had all his front lights do it in some tune order...was on u-tube, but I just got a set of Amber warning lights to go on my parcel shelf

I've seen a Golf GTI, Jetta turbo, Aurions, Astras, Camrys and Adventras as well as the usual Commodores and Falcons as unmarked cars in Melbourne.
