Ok, yeh fair point about having 200k to blow on a car i probs wouldnt buy a holden or ford. But then again i wouldnt buy a BMW but thats just me (200k personaly id be looking at a Ferrari/Masarati/SLK Black...mmmm).
Im beging to agree with you about the VL status of the trusty old XR6T...unfortunatly, and yes dam emisions making ford switch to a V6 (terrible idea). The I6 is a bloody great engine.

The V6 is the last of your worries from what I have been told by an engineer for Ford
But if I had 240k, I'd try and borrow some extra and go a nice Db9 or something, although, my dream is to walk into BMW in tattered jeans and shirt with no shoes on and drive out in a new M5 paying with one single bank cheque![]()

Why save for a house when you can save for houses, never aim low, it is too small a step to succeed. As for boring logistics manager, it pays my mortgages, allows me to work from my home office and I get to meet new people, on top of that I can study full time and move into the next phase of my career much sooner than otherwise![]()

+1 for DB9
The thing about this whole argument is that in euro the BMW is just another car, they are common and a hell of a lot cheaper than they are here as Minux has pointed out.
As for Ford being in the ****, yep they won't be here much longer, at least not as we know them. RIP I6 = RIP Ford AUS, simple as that.
Back on topic, glad you liked the ride in the ute. I would love to own a 6L, just couldn't pay the fuel bill.

If I earned 200k a year you could bet your ass that I would have a Holden, probably an HSV Senator or W427 as my daily driver. I would probably have a sports car on the side though, I have always admired Ferrari. Their designs always age very well.
The point is that I have always been, and always will be a Holden man and I doubt I would sell out that easily just by being cashed up.
On another note, I just returned from Europe a few days ago and spent about a week driving a new Mercedes B Class around Scotland. For a hire car it was immaculate. Nice and roomy for a tall guy like me too (6ft 5in). Nice to drive. It wasn't the base model either because it had sport trimmings and alloys with run flat tyres. Apparently this was the "Astra Equivalent" which we were put down for. Had the widest turning circle of any car I have ever driven which isn't ideal for the narrow roads of Scotland. It also had NO balls. With Scotland's lack of overtaking lanes, I could only travel as fast as the slowest vehicle because you needed an airstrip to overtake in this thing. Apparently it has 100Kw, it must be heavy because my mums 80kw Camry is like a sports car in comparison. In Australia this car retails for $45,000 for a base model! Unbelievable! No thanks. As nice as it handled and as comfortable as it was, it isn't worth $45 grand.
That sounds about right to me. I didn't notice many of the current model Mondeo's in the UK anyway. BMWs are everywhere, but BMW's euro pricing is a lot more competitive than it is here. After seeing the Vauxhall Corsa, I am convinced that Holden need to ditch the Daewoo sourced Barina for it. Its like a smaller version of the Astra which in my opinion is a very nice looking car (especially the 2 door coupe).
HEY! If people keen hangin sh!t on BMW drivers I'm gonna start caving faces in... lol
I drive a BMW... not by choice though...
And how did a thread about a VE SS ute turn into a BMW bashing thread which is not turning into a Holden vs Ford thread...
Keep it on topic people...
BMW's make good Taiwanese taxis
i have no idea what model it is though
let us not forget, bmw's in australia may make a guy blow a load but in many countries bmw merc etc are the 'Ford and Holden' companies of the country, and priced accordingly,
minux, csp etc have allready pointed out the brilliant goverenments tax on car imports, which is why they are so expensive, at the same time though it gives holden and ford even toyota manufactoring a chance because if bmw where 34,990 no one would by a falcodore would they

Honestly, I found driving my old mans WH grange, a much more comfortable and luxurious ride, than driving my uncles 06/07 530i, which is now about twice as expensive, and with $2k services and $800 a pop for a tyre, compared to $400 services and at most about $400 for a tyre.. I know which I'd prefer to own..
Plus.. give the grange a nail and at least you can hear a nice 8 purr..
