Talking Drove a VE SS ute today...AWSOME:D

Bloke at work got pulled over by the cops today and he couldnt drive his car the rest of the way to work. I was asked if i would go out and get him. I asked what car he drives and the reply was my wet dream, a brand spanking new silver ve ss ute.

For all the rubbishing that goes on for the ve's i thought it was a very nice car. The dash looked sweet and the seats were comfy as. It handled beutifully aswell, and the 6ltr was just magic. I've still got a huge smile on my face.

Discuss if you like but im just gloating in the fact i got to drive a new car, i've really never been in a new car let alone drive the new car of my dreams.

I was the same when my old boss bought an SLK Kompressor Merc and let me drive it. I asked him for a drive and he laughed and about 10 minutes later gave me the keys and said 'make sure you watch your speed cos it gets away from you pretty quick'.

meh, whatever gets your jollies off. Whenever I get the rare chance to drive the bosses 08 7 Series he has to clean the cum stains off the roof. A VE SS is well just umm a VE SS, nothing special really.

You enjoyed it though, so who cares

LOL so true. I don't understand why people buy them for the price they are. You can only get an average BMW for the price of an HSV that would whip it. I'd rather buy an HSV and keep the change thank you.

As for my boss, he owns a crappy old '97 falcon in an awful blue/green colour. I don't consider myself to have a bad wage, but he would have to earn at least 3 times as much as me. If I earned as much money as him, I wouldn't be driving that. I guess its good that he doesn't care too much. I don't think I would enjoy him throwing some flashy Merc in our faces.

No wankers cars are XR6 Turbo's. 7 Series BMW are stylish. If you would prefer a holden or Ford over one, you are clearly a bogan.

My boss is 64, why the hell would he want to race around in a 2nd rate car? He buys these cars because he can, same reason I would buy one.

Maybe you should ask my boss that. I am far from a Bogan, I am simply a Holden fan because I grew up with them and have driven them and my favourite drivers raced them. BMW's do nothing for me. In fact, there was only one time where I liked BMW and that was when Brocky drove one and I had a remote control model of his car. I consider BMW's way overpriced. I think the latest models look like arse as well. I wouldn't have one on my mind even if I did have the cash.

To me, BMW, Merc and Lexus drivers seem like the type of people who buy them because they know they are known as a prestige brand. They don't care what they hell else they could buy for the price, only that they have the car that will make them appeal to other rich numptys. That may be a stereotype, but I think it holds as much truth, possibly more than Holden drivers being considered bogans.

BMW's overpriced? Maybe for you they are, for many others they are not, that being said, they are only overpriced due to our government having pathetic import taxes that help prop up our car manufacturers that cannot compete with international makers. Clearly you are not in the position to buy one, nor have you driven one anyway, so I have nfi how on earth you can have any valid opinion about the cars.

Got to love how some people think.

Minux, you need to learn how to have an adult conversation. I don't talk out my arse, I form my opinions on experiences. I told you I was expressing my opinion, I don't mind that you don't agree with it, but it is still my opinion and maybe you should respect that.

Where did I say you were talking out of your arse? Something you concluded to all on your own. Nice work.

As for your opinion, it means nothing because if you had of driven some of the newer BMW's you would know for fact that a Commodore and a BMW 7 series simply cannot be compared. Do I respect your opinion? Sure, do i agree with it? Sure as hell not.

So what experiences have you had? This should surely be interesting

Anyway, Im off for the day, going to learn to have an adult conversation

I knew it would be too hard for you to comprehend minux. I never compared the two in terms of quality, performance or anything, I simply said I would prefer to buy an HSV and keeps the spare change. What is so wrong with that? Tell me because I would like to know why it is so wrong for me to prefer to buy a Holden over a BMW.

Hate to say it Minux, anyone who says XR6T's are wankers cars are cleary deluded. You could make the same wanker claim about any S, SS or HSV car too but that would be wrong too.

I stuggle with the concept that a car is a wanker car because of the driver, it isn't the cars fault it has an idiot behind the wheel.

As for owning a BMW, I would pick an M5, put my 3 kid seats in the back and use it as a daily, I woke up and then realised it was a dream lol

Do you mean an m5 or m6 because there is no m7. I think the m6 looks a bit oddball but i love the look of the m5 even if it is very understated

You realy can't take other people opinions with out trying to 'one up' them.
Im with out a doubt not a bogan. I just prefer as others have allready stated have a bloody fast car for 40K rather a slow "suposedly" luxurious car for twice the price (possibly more even for a 1.8l bottem class bottem class BMW). I apreciate that not everyone wants a rocket ship of a car and a nice family/prestigious car suits them better, but that dosnt make them better.
In genrall people who drive BMW's arnt motoring enthousiats. They just like have a nice comfy, well built car which has great features (dont get me wrong BMW is world class). But they arnt really into cars. they like the image that driving a BMW personifies. Befor you say i cant compare yada yada yada, my very well of mate has a 328 and it is very nice but again he's not into cars he just likes being at uni and driving a 80K car. Ihave another mate who's old boy drive a brand new 5series. again bloody awsum car for comfort and its features are outstanding but once again he just likes it for its features/brand name.
Also as allready pointed out, wankers cars are made by the drivers not that car itself. Holden and Ford (or anyother more common brand) arnt 2nd rate they are just aimed at a different consumers. horses for courses.

I wouldn't exactly say people who aren't into cars are the only ones who buy BMW's. If money wasn't an option would you really choose a poorly built rusting from factory XR6 Turbo or would you buy an M5 BMW? With holdens and fords you get what you pay for, in fact, in most cases we pay around 10k more than we really should, more fool us. Lets face it though, the only reason many buy Holdens and fords is cost, don't know too many people on 200k a year that are buying Falcons and Commodores.

Back to the Xr6T, really they are the modern day VL(which is a pity as they are a car that is 100* better), make the most of it though, especially with what Ford USA have planned for Ford Australia...horrifying.
