Default monster eel caught in pot

will be putting up a pic in roughly an hour...but first the story.

Yesterday me n a couple of mates were out fishing/crabbing up the burpengary creek and just a general lazy day on the water, when we went to investigate the pots for nice big bucks we came across a little surprise...1 of the pots was stuck!!?? wtf we though, must be stuck on a log so tied off to front of boat and towed the pot out...as mate is pulling it up he comments on how heavy it is....good reason to it had a bloody 2.8m...yes meter...filthy slimy eel...he had gotten in the pot to snake the bait but got caught lol...got a video of it aswell for further proof...i swear its a record sized eel as i've never seen/heard of one this big before

anyway pics will be up in an hour...anyway else caught something overly big?

If its a freshy, I hope you are going to cook it up. So hard to find places over here in oz that sell it. Would even love to know of a place that cooks up elvers traditionally.

Freshwater Swamp Eels taste good cooked on a fire with some lemon squeezed on them. I used to catch them in the creek as a kid with offal as bait on 100 lb handlines.....

There is a method for cooking saltwater eels, you but it in a large pot of boiling water, along with a red clay house brick (must be red clay!) add some pepper and salt to taste, when the eel is done, throw it in the bin and eat the brick, it will taste better.

I heard that about cooking galahs or something like that.
Throw it in a pot with a rock, and when the rock is soft the galah is ready to eat.

Thats a massive eel by the way

Is that up the end of Ulhman Rd? near the boat / ship yard? We found a monster cod there a few years ago, you could have probably stuck your head in its mouth.... possibly something in the water
