Default Is this the price of petrol we are supposed to be paying...or just a gimmick?

I had to share this: AdelaideNow... Gridlock as servo slashes fuel price

    October 21, 2008 02:12pm
A PETROL station in Sydney's west is causing havoc on the streets after drastically reducing the price of its petrol.

The independently owned BP service station on Sunnyholt Road in Blacktown was until recently selling petrol for around $1.40 a litre.

This morning it began selling it for 97.4 cents a litre.

At 12 noon (AEDT) it dropped the price further to 94.4 cents.

The move has caused quite a stir, Macquarie Radio reported, with cars queuing for several hundred metres for the petrol, resulting in traffic jams.

"They came straight away,'' one of the service station's workers said.

However, he was unable to continue the conversation because of the rush of customers.

will be interesting to see their reasoning for doing this

    1995 Manual HSV Clubsport
Wade Cam :: 9.2:1 CR :: Pacemaker headers :: Twin 2.5" Exhaust :: VT Brakes
    1991 Supercharged VN Berlina
    9 PSI SC14 Intercooled :: Genie headers :: Twin cats :: HM Twin 2.25 exhaust :: 3.45:1 LSD

That's what we should be paying based on current oil prices and where the aussie dollar is at.

You'd be kicking yourself if you lived in Sydney, filled your car up for $1.40, then as you leave the servo, hear on the radio that they are selling petrol for 94 cents a litre. You'd be kicking yourself!

What could be better, you get pulled over for doing a skid, the police offer a free adjustment, a couple of good whacks later, the reception is far clearer then ever before.

Given the price of oil, there is no reason for us to be paying around the same prices as when it was $30 a barrel higher.

ACCC/Petrol Commisioner and Oil companies both get paid too much to do the same thing - **** All

From what I heard on the radio with an interview of the servo owner it was 2 independent service stations BP then united follewed suit doing it in protest against the oil companies that they say are trying to push them out of business with petrol prices. It was chaos apparently, people were waiting at least half an hour to get petrol lol

Just watched ACA, The bloke on spoke about us getting oil from asia i think?, And with different pricing and our changing dollar he said we can't view the U.S barrel. But then the host mention we are about 14c or 20c still worse off.
Forget his name but she called him a toothless lion i think. But your right because they can they will.

Yup our prices are based on singapore Gas, not crude. I did have a sweet document outlining it all. Basically Australians own oil supply can sustain the current population here for hundreds of years. However, they are pumping out excess into the world market. I say **** the rest of the world, lets use our oil for us. Thing is, the costs for singapore are no different to anyone else.
