    Default Rediculous Australian Laws

It is illegal to roam the streets wearing black clothes, felt shoes and black shoe polish on your face as these items are the tools of a cat burgular.

It is illegal to walk on the right hand side of a footpath.

Bars are required to stable, water and feed the horses of their patrons.

Only licensed electricians may change a light bulb.

It is illegal to wear hot pink pants after midday Sunday.

You must have a neck to knee swimsuit in order to swim at Brighton Beach.

It is illegal to drive straight into your driveway, you’re meant to reverse in and drive out straight.

QLD Taxi's must carry a bale of hay in the boot at all times.

My dad is a sparky and has the contract to several government office, he gets called out all the time to change lightbulbs. Reason being it is against oh&s rules for these govt employees to change a lightbulb. He charges through the roof for it too lol, theres the minimum call out fee, charges by the hour, travel and if it is after hours it won't cost any less than $300 lol

i remember reading somewhere about how it's illegal to drink alcohol in your house because it's not a licenced premises, also how it's pretty much illegal to do any recording with a vcr, like tape shows of telly etc.

All cars in NSW must have a man walk in front of them waving a red flag when they're being driven.

People are allowed to spit in the gutter but it is against the law to spit on the footpath.

    And...

Men are allowed to drain the main vein on a car tyre or a tree in public aslong as noone can see

a cop actually told me off for this, and even wrote it down on the infringement notice! i think because it's an extrusion beyond the bumper, but i just left it on.

my favourite is the squatters law. if i remember correctly, you can move into a house providing the occupants are not living it at the time, and perhaps their belongings need to be gone as well. not a single person can touch you if you do this! unless the owner came in with a gun and told you to **** off or die. which i would do if it was my house

You may never leave your car keys in an unattended vehicle.

Until the Port Arthur Killings it was legal to own an AK-47 but not legal to be gay.

this was brought into action in 1934, when motor vehicles were becoming present on australian roads. The government had it introduced so that horses would not be spooked by the auto's. As it stands this law is still in place and horses have right of way too

Im not sure about not being able to be touched, but if u stay there something like 11 years then the land title can legally be changed to the name of the squatters

Actually the bale of hay in taxi's is an English law which Australia took on and has never changed so it applies to all of our States and Territories

Whilst on the subject of hay for horses and the like I'm pretty sure the Innkeepers Act still contains the requirement for all licenced establishments, hotels, motels, etc to provide hay, water and shelter for travellers arriving on horseback (I know this was still part of the Act in the late 90's but may have been altered since)
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?

Umm, no he didnt, but Julie isnt one to let the facts get in the way of her prejudices. (as if a car could remove a towbar .....LOL)

You can read what I said about towbars here:Weird stuff picked up on a roadworthy

similar to what I posted recently, the most recent rantings on this issue have been deleted from the ask vicops thread. Which is a shame:

as it appears only a minority of vic cops enforce the guidelines properly: http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/NR/rd...FF/0/VSI24.pdf

Perhaps have a brain storming session and see if you can come up with something on why that law may be there.

Children may not purchase cigarettes, but they may smoke them.

Under Australian Communications Authority (ACA) regulations, a modem can’t pick up on the first ring.

The legal age for straight sex is 16, unless the person is in the care/custody of the older person, in which case it is 18.

USA: You may not drive barefooted.
