*EDIT* were you looking at the 'tailgating' thread by any chance?
why do certain members get annoyhed when some1 post a responce on a tread from a few years back and they are then called a "tread digger" and those same members get annoyed when someone starts a new tread that has been covered a couple of years back.................
am i missing something? or am i a idiot?

Personally I don't mind thread digging as long as there is valid reason for it. For example, you are in the vs area and looking to try a mod that has been mentioned in a thread. You read the thread from start to finish and have a question that no one has asked before. If thats the case, then by all means post it.
But if your not searching and reading threads and asking a question that has been answered many times before, then expect to get flamed.
In the pub area its different because generally only recent topics are discussed so making a comment in a thread that no one's posted in for a year is not advisable.
I prefer a new thread to digging up an old one.
I will call someone a thread digger but will defend someone that posts a topic even if it's already been covered.
Some people just like a whinge I guess.
I would post a reply to this in a couple of years time just to pee off those that hate thread digging, but something tells me I'll forget.....
I'll remind you in 2011 if you would like?

thanx lads. it makes a bit more sence now
I see no issue with it except when we have the following:
An irrelevant post is made regarding the thread to bring it back from revival.
A post is made in the for sale section even though the listing is 2 years old.
In the pub, it depends on the subject, some things are better left dead, generally if I am about I will delete the posts before people can say something, unfortunately we cannot be here 24/7 to do that.

This sums it up...
If a thread regarding a topic is just old and useless then its over and move on... like a 2006 thread about moving state and needing a house.. thats thread digging.
If someone posts regarding a manual conversion and revives a 2006 thread..s long as it somehoe positivly contributes to the progression of the topic, its ok. Its common sense rather than magic.
aZk.
somedid it in general the other day, 2 and a bit years since last post, just so they could say something like
"yeah i have a thing like that"
TVR-190: That LSD service paid off. Stato just got very sideways.
Grennan: In a stato, the term is held starboard.

[[/QUOTE]QUOTE=hingo1983;909085]Yes, you are missing the H from THREAD
lol well i guess im a idiot then![]()
It annoys me because people that thread dig 99% of the time just say something stupid or irrelevant.
They're not asking something related just making a general comment.
The for sale section ones annoy me tooIm pretty sure something posted 3 years ago is sold by now!
When people drag up something that was for sale in (say 2006) in a thread that has been un-touched ever since, and then ask if it is still for sale is a good (bad?) example of thread digging that should be crucified. Sames goes for answering a question that was asked (and answered adequately in the thread) or dragging up some dead horse and making some startling contribution such as "Me too".
All are offenses that should be punished by death.

i always love it when someone who asks a question is shot down in flames and told it's been posted before and to use the search function before asking the question.
then they may happen to find it and post in the topic only to be accused of being a thread digger.
seems to happen on most forums

can someone explain to me what EOI is when people are selling something on here?
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
only time i see it as stupid is if someone asks something, or for example has something for sale in 2006 then someone rocks in and decides to respond in 2008 without realising the person either A)doesn't care B)is long gone from jc or C) is dead.
