    Default Most modifiable model Commodore

Which model Commodore do you think is the most "modifiable" aesthetically? That is, which body shape is the most adaptable to modification and still looks sharp? I'm only talking about design, not engine/transmission mods.

There are heaps of modified Commodores out there and many are just that - heaps. Another thread which is current deals with funniest commies you have seen, and many are downright ugly. Some look terrific.

So which model do you think modifies best?

i think the most modifiable is the VT, can make it look like a VX, Monaro, GTO, there are tons of aftermaket bits and pieces. massive array of headlights/taillights, interiors. but there are a lot of modified Vt's out there and i like the original look anyway because there the ones you dont see as much....

I'd go VT, Can chuck almost anything on it from almost any model made after it.

personally i reckon you start to run into trouble post vp, with stuff like ABS and airbags making it harder to tidy the bay or changing steering wheels and seats.

Smoked ones look ok on light coloured cars (had a set on the ol' white Vr looked better than any other options) but generally agree....

EDIT: Monaro tail lights with standard Vt rear garnish **** me to tears!~!~!

O>P: I reckon Vt-Vx, always loved the shape since they were released..... mmmmmm

    I'd say either VN/VP or VT/VX.

Legally the VN is more modifiable. No IRS, no ABS, no airbags, can put any newer engine in, etc.

If you have the money, any model you choose will be the most modifiable... Even if you are just talking about appearance.

I'm not sure that the original purpose of my post came across. Yes, all models can be lmodified, and with enough money, you can do anything. But in my opinon, some Commodore shapes don't modify as well as others. The VT and VX can be fitted with body kits/lights etc and still look damn good, but I don't agree that the same can be said for the VN/VS series. There are some bloody awful looking body kits for those models out there, and their overall design doesn't have the same integrity and flowing lines of the VT on.

I dont think I have ever seen a sharp looking body modded VN or VP - their overall shape just doesnt seem to lend itself to body mods. To a lesseer extent, same goes for VR-VS.

Just my opinion, of course, but anybody with pics to prove me wrong is welcome...

So your thread title should be something more like "What is the best model to modify and still look good?"

Which of course is going to be different for everyone...

Where the VN loses is when it comes to body kits, a VT will look good with a standard HSV kit on it, the VN's look liek abortions with VT/VX/VY etc kits on them.

Also, the VT II onwards already has an LS1 on it, that would be the minimum you would go on a transplant so you are already at an advantage there.

i was going to say something similar to Minux.

You see more VN's around with stuff done to them, but 9/10 times they look ****e. VT seems to be next and the mods a little smoother for lack of a more convincing word.

Monkey "fortune" kit for the Vt-vx looks really bad IMO:
    Monkey Warehouse.com.au

I am partial to a Vn-vp gun metal grey with a grp A body kit aside from the Vx r8 clubbies probably my favourite looking commodore

Yes but a VN with a SV5000 kit trumps anything from HSV in the VT onwards era

I reckon the VL has the most aftermarket body parts for it. There is like 4 or 5 differant kits for it, plus the calais bits. People also stick whatever seats they want in it.

I would say VN/VP, VR/VS AND VT/VX. Body kits are lame as ****! The only commys what look "done up" without body kits are VK's and VL's. Lower a VK or VL and put rims on it and it looks done up. Do it to another commodore and it still looks "stock".
