Get some ammonia, soak a few rags in it and leave them around the car for a few nights. Possoms smell it and think the territory has been marked by another critter. They shouldn't come back.

If they r in your house roof space, seal up any possible entrances, and trap them in a cage, ring your local council/shire and they can lend you a trap. If they are eating your roses who cares they are native wildlife and were here first

Whats your problem with the Possum?
If its in your roof, ring the council, if its getting on your car move your car into a shed or an open space (not near a tree).
They are actually a really nice animal, and quite interesting to watch, dont worry about them if they are just hanging around, they normally only stick around for a week or two and leave. Alternativly make it your friend. A mate has one that they can now hand feed and it just hangs around there house, not even the dogs mind it lol.

There is a man who deals with possums "possumwise" this is in Vic he has special one way doors to put into your roof so the possum goes out at night and can not get back in the next day, Ringtales are native and it is illegal to remove them from your back yard however Brushtails are not and can be left at the RSPCA. DO NOT seal off the cracks before you know what kind of possum you are dealing with as they may stay in your roof ""STINKY"" and no the baby's wont stay in either as possums are like Kangaroos they have pouches for their baby's to ride in and they take them with them.

As for outside don't leave any scraps out, dog food, cat food etc keep cars away from trees and keep trees trimmed and put metal or plastic covers around rims of trees so they can not climb up and this includes washing lines and so forth, you can also get the council to cover power lines with special possum covers.

    Hope this helps.

The less people know about how sausages and laws are made, the better they'll sleep at night.

In the past we have had many problems with possums, due to where we live. By law you are allowed to catch them but they can only be relocated 50m away (They just walk straight back again ) so we used to catch them and let them go 15km away . We had big problems with them getting into all our trees and stripping them bare. The best thing that worked for us was to get a bag of "blood and bone" and sprinkle it all around the base of the tree and then just throw it into the tree so it lands on the bark and the leaves. Possums hate the stuff and keep away.

owl statues, it scares the **** out of them.

My g/f dad had major possum issues at his house for years,a s well as the neighbor/landlord.

they watched and waited over a few weeks and learned which ways the possums came in at night (along a tree on one side and a power line on the other)

Then they got the most life like owl statue they could find, nice color and all with yellow glass eyes (which are reflective) and placed permantly on the roof with brackets facing the incomming possums. very quite after dark now :P
