Woolworths rolls out unit pricing - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
This annoys me, Woolies has come out and claimed its the first supermarket to implement unit pricing e.g. each egg costs 89cents or 50cents per 100ml on products.
HOWEVER
i work for Franklins supermarkets and we have been doing this for about 2 months now. i hate how woolies likes to monopolize and control everything, pricks
Meh - who cares who did it first??? Great that it is happening though. Makes life a heap easier for the consumer. I wish they all did it.
Reaper
ALDI have been doing that for ages. Good idea IMO
Franklins!.. Are they still going.

i thought woolworths bought franklins, therefore franklins is a woolworths company.
correct me if im wrong, but thats what happened to all the franklins around here where i live

I think its a great idea, aldi's been doing it for yonks and it makes it real easy to see which really is the cheapest, helps alot. Still i dont see the big whohar on woolies doin it, theres aleady a few doing it already, so they should be ashamed they are so far behind the game
^^Sure you could do the same maths calculation for each of the 30 or 40 items you might buy, but why worry when its there on the tag. You can compare 10 different priced items in 3 seconds, saves heaps of time.
Call me old, But i only know Safeways.

safeways in sydney was part of coles/mayer group (name changed to red "S" ) sold to farmland which was eventuly sold to woolworths.
safeway in melbourne is part of woolworths

Harsh? Not at all, it will just make people even lazier.
If people cannot do simple addition and subtraction I suggest they go back to school. Im not sure what the issue is though, when I shop I buy the things I like in the sizes we need. Certainly won't change because I can save 2 dollars over an entire shop. All we will have now is aisles full of dumb arses trying to calculate 4 times the price of something to see if they save 3 cents.

I for one am poor with even simple mathematics, sure I can calculate 1+2 and 5+5 etc, but when it comes down to it, sure I can go back to school, but I have more important things in life than SPENDING more money to go back to school, in my career path, mathematics of that nature aren't necessary, and its a major benefit when supermarkets DO put that system in place.
I guess I just don't particularly like being labelled a 'dumbarse', or 'lazy' or even a 'retard'
What about those people who walk amongst us that have recognised learning difficulties? Bit pointless them going back to school to attempt to learn something they will not grasp ever?
So for some in society they are retarded, dumb, simple, stupid, morons - put any tag you like on them. They can't help how they were born.
