    Default Old Ford prices

Sorry for bringing up that dirty four letter word starting with 'F' on a Hoden forum but I've been searching the car sales websites and looking at some XA's, XB's and XC's. The prices some people are asking seems way over the top in my opinion. One XA GT is asking $150,000, another $75,000. An XB GT $70,000. An XC GS for $45,000. Yes, I do know that the GT badge bumps up the value of these things but are they really worth it?

Personally, I'd rather buy a nicely restored 2nd generation Pontiac Trans Am for $15,000US and have it imported.
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!

Those sorts of cars are very hit and miss. Up untill quite recently there were rediculous sums of money paid for all sorts of crap. Gen Ford GT's, L34/L31 Torana SLR/5000's and Brock Commodores etc are very thin on the ground and getting thinner every day. These cars are worth however much the other guy wants it.

That said, even at the best of times they can be difficult to sell. I'd be very worried if I owned one and needed the cash in our current environment.

Ford offered my father in law 1 mill for his GT that sits in the Ford Discovery Centre in Geelong. This was after a 900k offer. He refused both(he is not interested in the money).

Cars are never an investment, once the older generation of people die off, many of the older cars will lose all value. How many people in their early to late teens would even know what a GTHO is? There is no attachment or memory to the cars so interest is not there.

Better off investing the 600k+ into something that will get you returns.
