Default Sometimes the cheaper things you buy are better.

I bought a pair of thongs about 3 years ago when I was down the coast. I paid 7 bucks and they are STILL going strong! I've never had a pair that have lasted things long and I will be sad when they finally pack it in.

Post examples of when you have bought something cheap that has turned out better than something that costs more.

when i go clothes shopping i usaully go to places like target or jeans west. you pay about 35 dollars for a good pair of jeans there rather than paying about 70 dollars plus at any surf store. also i have found they last twice as long. its all about the brand name. does not mean they are really good quality.

Cheap Girlfriend = Good Bang for Buck
Expensive Girlfriend = No end of dramas

    Seriously,
I bought chinese ($50) for me and my girl one night, made us sick. Had 2 minute noodles ($2) for lunch the next day, made it better.

I remember something about ADIDAS (either that or Nike I rekon) on tv, can't remember the show....but they showed video footage of one of their 'factories' in an asian country, and it's pretty much an old run down warehouse filled to the brim with asians working long hours for **** pay. They even slept there and the small bedrooms had like 10+ asians in them....pretty much if u could still see some floor, they'll fit more in. It also showed the showers and toilets, which were all crusty. The conditions are BAD!!

What do you guys do to your thongs! haha, I've had my kustoms for three years aswell, they're still going strong, still got grip some grip, but only replacing thanks to the white now being brown.

eBays good for basic electronics, I'd rather pay 40 instead of the genuine 200.

Anyone who is interested in remote cotrolled helicopters consider buying a 50-100 dollar cheapie off ebay, they last so much longer, cheaper & are easier to fly than a hobby shops 200-300 dollar job (especially the brand name TWISTER, very poor products come out of there)

For a begnner i would recmmend a mini 3 channel apache gunship, lots of manovurability, cheap and dead easy to fly even in the house.

If your more experienced go for an alloy shark or any venom branded 3-4 channel heli

Really? You heard the term 'sweatshops' before these are the sort of places that refers to.

I think it really depends on the item you are buying, with some things you really get what you are paying for, other times you are only paying for a brand names and fancy packaging.

I have found with my work (artist) that the expensive $15 a tube paint is utter crap and $2- $3 a tube craft paint gives better results, but completely opposite with brushes, the cheapies I won't touch- bristles fall out, leave terrible strokes just crap in general but the expensive ones are much better.

How do you think they make all our electrical products?

For me, I got a rip off Iphone, was exactly like it, except didnt have the bull**** internet stuff (utube, and all that other "wait of money" things that come on the phone), worked wonders, best phone I had, but it wasn't Ben proof and I accidently left it on the floor and when I moved my chair in (this was at my pc desk) the leg went on it and when I sat down

But yes, I never buy high end "rip off price" merchandise (as most of you would know)...Me and my sister live off food from IGA, and some of the best foor is noname..

I have used Taiwanese socket sets over the years which have lasted extremely well and cost bugger all at the time. I found that the 3/8 drive sets were the best as you never tended to over-tighten bolts or nuts and they still managed to undo even the most stubborn fittings.

Occasionally, you will split a socket. Tough! Chuck it and use another from the other set.

My sets have done a lot of hard work and it is surprising to find the quality they represent at the price I paid.

When a tension wrench is required, I step up to half inch and use proper quality tools.

I never thought stuff all was made like that. But it does make sense I guess, how else could cheap shops sell toasters n stuff for $10 each.

I got a cheapo socket set, hasn't let me down yet. Cost about $60 off ebay. Ya can feel the cheapness in the quality tho, but it's still been good so far.
