thinking of giving my car the clay bar treatment and i was checking out the options in ricerbarn.
they had the usual meguiars and mothers, but they also had turtlewax brand liquid clay bar. looking in the bottle it was some kind of 3 layer mixture that you had to shake to mix together before use.
i was thinking about using it because it was a bit cheaper, and also i know now that if i get a clay bar it'll totally dry out between uses.
if not, which is better between the meguiars and the mothers?
Personally i use the meguiars clay bar kit, and it is a very good product, however i also use turtle wax platinum wax witch is very good indeed!! So i think it would be worth a shot to try the turtle wax clay bar kitI also wrap my clay bar up in glad wrap when not in use and its still as fresh as the day bought it, witch is @ least 6months ago now
as for witch is better between meguiars and mothers, well each to there own but they are both great products, but personaly i like meguiars stuff.

Mate of mine was telling me about those clay bars (not the liquid one, sorry powerslave!)
Are they really that good? My mate reckons they make it smooth as a babies ass on glass!! Is it true?
i haven't used one but people swear by them they're not an every wash kinda thing, they just pick up all the conaminants and sap and crap that even a thorough wash leaves behind.
A very fastidious Mate of mine recommends the 3M clay bar, but i'm not sure where you get them. Apparently its better cos its more squishy,so makes better contact with the panel surface or something
Anyone know if the are they harmful to the finish at all?
It it's basically cut'n'polish in a bar it can't be good eating away the top coat over time..
Liquid clay bar.........right. They don't dry out between use, soak it in the lub and warp it in glade wrap, mines 12 months old and it's still fine.
Clay bar = shiny

Mmmm... shiny car...
So you reckon they are better than cut'n'polish in the paint life department AirStrike?
I had never used a clay bar until i got my Calais and now after using one they really do make a world of difference! Airstrike thats is one sweet looking SS mate![]()

I bought one a while ago and they are great .They get all the contaminates like bugs sap and general road grime of you paintwork. The kit come with clay bar and a bottle of spray on detailer And yes it leaves the surface like glass . Then give it a coat of polish and the paint comes up like new.
One word of caution , if you drop the clay bar on the ground you might as well throw it away as it will be comtaminated with dirt and will scratch you paint .
Also good for cleaning you windscreen , but use water not the spray
there are three types of people in the world , those who can count and those who can't
I use Meguiars clay bar. Works great so i haven't needed to try anything else.
Your paint came up very nicely though!!
LOL shiiiiit biiiitch, i thought it was an example of the Turtle one. No wonder it came up well. I remember your paint job at the Albert park meet ages ago, looked REAL nice!!
Hahahaha same, i'm holding out even washing mine because it keeps raining. It looks real clean when it's soaked in the rain, once it dries it's awful. Bloody black paint. I'm not going to wash it until the forecast shows real nice weather for 4 days plus.
You guys have that problem too huh?
I've been thinking about talking to the goverment, I reckon I could solve the drought - I'll just wash my car everytime the Warrigamba starts getting low...
LOL, yeah, i just leave it until BOM says it's gonna be clear and warm then i wash it.
Anyone know about using clay bars on 2pac non clear coat paint?
is it any good?
