A few weeks ago I celebrated with family and friends at 12:00AM when I hit 18, went to the local Pokies, had some drinks, spent some coins, I won $40 within a few minutes and was excited for my first win, laid my wallet down beside the machine and stupidly walked off.
After about 10-15 minutes I had realized I had lost my wallet which contained around $400 (doh!) and all of my cards, searched for a while and notified security, they said they would check the cameras to see if anyone had picked it up.
After another 20-30 minutes, I had given up hope, my Sister had gotten onto a machine and won $200 and gave it to me. Unfortunately they could not show us the footage but they said they saw a lady on one of the cameras pick it up and walk out with it, although they didn't have any cameras in the car park.
They gave us a description, and we thought "what's the bet she went to another pub?".
At the time I was quite disappointed and angry thinking someone would do such a thing, and they would get away with it (I guess everyone isn't as nice as me).
We raced to the nearest pub which was Kelley's, my friends and sister rushed in, I couldn't go in due to not having any ID, my friend walked out 5 minutes later with his phone in his hand, speaking to the police explaining the story, yes, she was inside.
Angry and happy at the same time I called my parents, they turned up along with the police around 10 minutes later, the woman that had stolen my wallet noticed something was going on with my friends watching her, she rushed into the toilets and discarded my cards.
The police went in while I stood outside with my parents, they arrested her and searched her car finding an empty wallet, the police took details from myself and my friends and asked us to go down to the station to make a statement.
After a long session at the police station, we were told she would be put on bail and be sent to court in 4-5 months time, she had spent the whole $400 within an hour, we were told she would be lucky to get a slap on the wrist because she had a gambling problem and was a single mother with 3 children.
My family and friends then went back to the original pub and had drinks, telling the security the story and thanking them for their help.
My sister works at the local RSL, she told me the woman that stole my wallet was there on the machines tonight, and that she glanced at my sister and laughed. She didn't want to ring me in case my mother went down and caused trouble.
That's my story, the $400 might not seem like much to some, although it was money I had saved to get my car on the road and to go out with for my birthday, I learnt my lesson, hopefully the courts make her repay the money.
Thanks for reading.
get your sister to watch her next time shes at the RSL and find out what car she has and do $400 worth of damage to her tyres and other bits![]()

Good luck. Some heartless female dog scammed $20,000 and tried to blackmail a guy for a further $50,000 and she got a fully suspended sentence because she had a kid.
Females are not punished. The only form of justice you'll get is biblical. So I suggest you go Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man.......
Hope she gets bloody treatment for her gambling addiction too.
Having a 'gambling problem' is a choice. Stupid woman deserves everything she gets and then some, because I'm sure she'll get let off. Having a 'gambling problem' would have some weight in court, "It's not my fault, it's the poker machine makers' fault that I'm addicted!" She'd get let off. It's a shame you get treated better for screwing yourself and your family over.
That being said, since I work in the industry she's keeping me and thousands of others in a job. But that's a whole other kettle of fish![]()

Haha, what an eventfull 18th hey! Unlucky, but hey atleast you got a story eh! Glad you ended up catching her in the end. Better luck next time at the pokies lol.
The moral of the story is grow a beard so you'll no longer get asked for ID.
There may be a slight possibility that this may arouse some suspicionSucks doesn't it?
EDIT: Hardstylin, is your sister in a position to either enforce a ban on patrons, or request one at least? She could always try to ban the lady with reason being she has been inplicated in theft in the venue/other venues nearby, and as such the safety and security of the other patrons and their money could be at stake. It may not get your money back, but it sure would inconvenience the bitch. You reserve the right to refuse service to anybody, so unless her superiors care more about the stupid lady than their employees, she might be able to get the woman banned.
I should go stab a guy and take his wallet and say its ok coz I'm a poor uni student with an ice addiction

Best option. Have a sex change. Adopt three kids. Quit your job/study. Start gambling heaps.
Then steal her wallet and be let off by the police because you're a single mother with three kids, a gambling addiction and no means to pay it back.
Sounds pretty good to me.
You must hold severe grudges for a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG time Shounak![]()

....is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.
Best movie quote ever.
I'll get my sister to watch her next time.
as far as i know, if you want your money then you'd have to sue her. she will get charged for theft or whatever, but it's not up to the court to make her pay.
i once had my windscreen smashed, they caught the guy and everything, he didn't have to pay a cent. different story, but same principle.. i had lost money and no one gives a ****.
to be honest, if it was me and i knew the person, i would cause $400 worth of damage. that is seriously only fair.
thats the way of the world, scum get let off and become even more scummy. should just shoot them and be done with it. *flame suit on*
Surely you can get victims of crime compensation or something (not sure how that works tho)
Such a shame we live in a place like that. No matter how broke i was, if i found a wallet i'd hand it in.
Years ago when mobiles first came out, i lost mine when we were away. Thought its long gone. Then a week later i get a call from the police in the town (can't remember the town) saying they had my phone, after a guy walking his dog found it and handed it to them.

Also quoted in a good song you might have heard...
Last time I found a wallet (at uni) it took me over an hour to get rid of it. Eventually I gave up trying to hand it in at uni, emailed the guy (student number on student card) went all the way to the cop shop to hand it in.Originally Posted by STEALTHY™

Also found a phone on a train and gave it to the guy in front of me thinking it was his. He rang some number and the next day there was a thing in MX thanking "Mr whatever-his-name-was" for finding this girls phone on that train.
But yes...people are bad

An update on this, she went to court, received community service and she doesn't have to pay a cent back.
High five for Australia's justice system!
