New sneaky speed camera's in VIC

JUST GOT THIS EMAIL:

Be careful!!
There's one on Maroondah Hwy in Croydon between Croydon and Dorset Rds - a few hundred metres along from the bottom of the big hill.
Just a heads up on a new speed camera system they are testing
It's a cylindrical pole about 2m high with 3 perspex stripes on it (I assume they hide cameras, one for each lane of the highway), and there's some matching sensors on the far side of the road in the gutter.
Here's what it looks like :

someone cover the black parts on the pole in electrical tape. who would notice lol

Its apparently getting used mainly for trucks or something... Don't know how true it is but

in QLD they have these on the highway, they give 3 warning on the side of the road stating there is a camera ahead, then when you can actualy be caught, theres white lines on the road, everyone just slows down then boots it when they pas it, stupid but they have to inform you that a camera device is there.

They already use noise monitors for heavy vehicles in some parts of the country, including Vic

I fail to see how any speed camera is revenue raising. Don't speed you won't get caught. As i have said many times, lets **** over the government by not speeding, they cant keep whacking up cash cam's if people OBEY the law.

theres speeding than theres speeding, if your doing 5 kay over the limit going down a steep hill and you get stung i dont belive you should get a fine, fines are for people who are deliberately putting the foot down to go faster.

I suppose if you don't know it's there, the old argument about "speed cameras are dangerous because everyone is looking at the speedo, not the road" doesn't hold? Either that or it holds everywhere now lol

The radar detection is actually before the cameras I was told by a police offcier, the white lines is just where it takes your photo. And if your talking about the one at burpengary on the bruce, they have one of the vans parked up around the next corner a lot.

i always have to look at my watch when i'm going through a school zone.
taking your eyes off the road to check the time isn't a great move outside a school, but if it's the difference between getting 3 demerit points and a ~$250 fine or not, i'll do it.

I don't think they should be able to penalise you for school zone offenses unless the zone has those flashing amber lights to let you know when it's school time or not.

I don't have kids, and I don't see it's reasonable to expect me to know what the school holiday periods are, also if my watch is a few minutes off I might drive through a zone at 9:35am which I thought innocently was 60 and is in fact still 40.

Thankfully most of the school zones I've seen with cameras have these lights.

none of our school zones have those flashing lights as far as i know. you can get done when your watch says 3:58, but camera says 4:00. such a stupid system

Yeah i was just thinking to myself what flashing lights. Theres 1 school zone which was only recently made near me on High Street road and it has those digital speed limit signs. Thats really about it.

All of the electronic speed signs in Victoria are getting replaced over the next twelve months (already started). The red ring of LED's in the matrix panels flash when at the lower speed setting. The newer ones are easy to spot as they are now solar powered so there will be a solar panel above the box.

ya i know someone who got done in a school zone when there watch was off like 3 minutes, they got told its not their problem about watches being off and to pay the fine,k and this was someone who had been driving 40 years without a fine or demerit

i can onli wait until tt or aca feature these in a "everyone watch this, new revenue raising!" dont speed that much and u should be fine...there is a time and a place for everything and a highway where there is camera's is not the place...
