Older drivers will have check-ups | Herald SunNEW laws for older people who hold a NSW drivers licence are set to take affect from next week.
As from December 1, Minister for Roads Michael Daley said drivers over the age of 75 would need an annual medical check-up.
Drivers over the age of 85 would be required to take a driving test every two years.
Well its a step in the right direction, the other state governments should be looking at this.
What age do people believe that older drivers should be tested? 70, 75, 80? or earlier....

"No, I'm not a pessimist. At some point the world shits on everybody. Pretending it ain't shit makes you an idiot, not an optimist."
i recon hold everyone acountable and make everyone have a test every year or so to find weak points in their driving and have specific training sessions in areas of need
Exactly, it's a good idea and all, but overall, it's younger drivers who seem to be more of a danger nowadays. I think everyone should be regulary tested on their driving skills, young or old. The only thing they should be concerned about in my opinion about elderly citizens, are heart conditions (possible heart attack whilst driving) any medications that may cause drowsyness, eyesight and possible extreme slow reaction times. Other than that, i'm more worried about idiot drivers on the road using public streets and roads as drag strips and burnout pads, not elderly citizens.
