I'm really interested to know who buys seafood from woolies , and what its done to you if you have. Like most fisherman I am a seafood freak, so everytime I walk past the seafood counter at woolies it makes me wonder, Does anyone eat that stuff ? Most of it looks like doo doo i reckon, but a few things look ok.
Not a big fan of seafood myself but we have some speciality seafood shops here so i'd be buying from there.
I only buy seafood from our local fishmonger, I do not dare eat that imported **** Coles and WW claim to be seafood.

I have a bloke who has a seafood van on the side of the road, gets it straight of the trawlers, best seafood in my area!! Although any seafood bought on land will never taste as good as when its cooked fresh in brine on the back deck of a trawler!!!Damn miss the good ol days
But yeah WW and the like, personally i dont touch their seafood unless its an absolute last resort for a special occasion!!

I buy my seafood crumbed or battered and deep fried from the local take away, which, ironicaly is named The Dolphin Take Away. Never have, or will buy imported crud from Coles or Woolies.
Never. I don't even buy it from normal fish shops.
I buy straight from a distributor who just opened up a retail storefront 2 years ago. Puts everything else to shame.
Ironically it's much cheaper than Woolies/Fish shops and a millions times better.
Where's peoples sense of adventure?? lol
99% of the time I'll get it from a fish shop (We don't have any locally), but there is the odd occasion that I'll get the seafood mix (Seafood mixed with god knows what) from Coles, particularly if its the inlaws coming around![]()

i nuy mine from the fish market or my local fish and chip shop they sell it frozen or batterd ect ect or i get up at 4am and buy it from the docs straight off the boat.
I'm there that often I have a frequent friers card with these guys and I'm on a first name basis with the bloke that owns the shop, so I know they don't get theirs from Coles or Woolies. They are a proper old fashioned Fish and Chip shop who are supplied by a reputable butchers for their meat and a real seafood supplier for their fish. All this talk about fish and chips has got me hungry.
By the time I got to the shops one day the fishmonger was closed so I decided to take the gamble. NEVER AGAIN, one bite and I had visions of a late night emergency run to hospital, in the bin and toast instead.
I never have seafood when im out for tea.. I catch my own King George Whiting and squid and fry em up at home.. Nothin better than fresh..![]()
it never looks that flash. Allfresh Seafood FTW here.
I don't buy that crap, I don't really buy any seafood though being allegic to shellfish. But has anyone ever noticed the supermarket seafood will have a little sign saying thawed for your convenience? Shows how fresh it is and not sure what makes that so convenient, means you can't freeze it again if you need to.
What is with everyone saying "they fry up their fish" talk about killing off the taste of fresh fish

wondered that too. if i were to fry it it wouldn't matter if it were frozen for 3 months! to hell with buying good seafood if frying it is the outcome.
EDIT - unless it's a bit of salt and pepper squid. i've been known to fry a bit of that and wash it down with a decent ale.
LOL. Seafood from WW. Never ever would i buy that. I only eat what i catch

True. A lot of Take-Aways etc. we sell to at work buy the seafood that we get from a company in New Zealand. And quite often the stuff we get from China. Not many are interested in the Australian stuff because it's 'too expensive'. Bloody sooks.

I did buy it from Woolies, and then I started working there. Haven't since.
