    Default learner restrictions

hey me and a few mates are planning on heading over to Adelaide for a week over new years and we are gonna take my car and one of them is still on his learners so i was wondering what all the laws are in regards to that? can he drive my v8 or not in Vic and SA? i am a full licensed driver and the other mates are on their P's so they arent allowed to drive. cause when i got my license i got my learners done a few driving lessons then got my P's then i went and lived overseas working for a few years and by the time i got back here my license had changed from off being a P plater to a full license so i never learnt any of that

I know in Victoria, or atleast im fairly sure, learners have no problems driving V8's as long as you are a fully licensed driver which you say you are.

You have to have a BAC of .00 now. Also check with your insurance company, but most say the licenced driver has to ber over 25 or 28. This is a real pain in the ass in my opinion caus mum wouldnt sit next to me in my car, and my mate was 24.

in SA there's no restrictions on motor vehicles number of cylinders, turbo's or superchargers. As Tom said both the learner and the full licensed supervising driver should not have any alcohol in their system

Oh also if hes on Vic Learners, then he still follows vic rules, same if he goes to NSW he can do 100, hes not restricted to 80 like the NSW L-platers.

The fully licensed driver must have held their full license for atleast 2 years, and not have had a driving conviction within the 2 years either. If you haven't had a full license for 2 years, or had a driving conviction within 2 years, u can't be his fully licensed driver.

Correct.... IF they were both on SA's licences/permits, but they are not. They are on Vic Licence/permit so vic laws apply to them.

As I said, in Vic any fully licenced driver can sit next to a learner, aslong as they ahear to the rules i.e no BAC etc.
The biggest killer is finding out if your insurance company will cover you if your sitting next to him. I found racv were the most lenient, in which the licenced driver must be atleast 25. AAMI you can pay extra to have the age restricted.
