Default Chev badge on a ss highway patrol?

My boss pointed it out today, as a blue ve ss highway patrol overtook us...

One gold chev badge on the rear.

Just wondering.... Is there a reason behind it?

To try and look like a knob? So people think it's just another knob who's put a Chev badge on his car and not a cop...

Most Highway patrol stations have a budget that allows them to modify/disguise their cars. It may have been an attempt by a chev enthusiast officer to add that special touch to his daily ride. I assume it was a marked car ?

Also technically illegal to drive with P plates on if you're not a provisional licence holder, but why does that matter

I really wish I knew how people could tell an undercover police car is an undercover police car. Because undercover police cars have no lights, no siren, no radio and no police markings. the police that drive them wear no uniforms. the cars can be any make, model and age....

if you actually mean UNMARKED police cars, then they're completely different...

ah yes they do, undercover still have all the gear as a unmarked. just with un uniformed police driving them and usually have removable lights, or at least fold down lights, and specail aerials that can mount under guards and plastics etc

there is even under cover ambulances out there,

you're joking right? What you are describing is an UNMARKED car.

So an undercover cop drives a car with all the gear in it when he goes to meet a contact for a drug bust or something? When the dealer (or whoever) gets in the car I think he would be tipped off. Suggest you look up what UNDERCOVER means.

And what is an undercover ambulance for? People who get sick but refuse to be treated? "Don't worry, call the undercover ambos and they'll never suspect a thing! We'll just strap em down once we get em in the back..."

oh dam i forgot, your right, its not like i would know, for a second there i thought i built the things, must of been a dream.

unmarked poilces cars a quite easy to spot, with leds mounted on the boot garnish and in the grill and mounted on the dash, have 2-3 areials on the boot lids depending on the area,

undercover have hidden aerials under scuttle trays, wheels arches etc have a siren mounted behind the bumper usually facing down, and no dash lights

i understand the type of car you are talking about but the are hardly poilce cars they are usually used once and then sold, and are usaully and older model of car.

and your ambulance comment shows your limited knowledge,
they have them so when you look out your front window, your not gonna say "hey i wonder what those 2 commodores, 3 falcons and a tarago and a ambulance are doin out the front of my house".
its so you say "hey i wonder what those 2 commodores, 3 falcons and a tarago and a roof tiler are doin out the front of my house".

then when the police shoot you during the raid an ambulance is close enough to save your life, so you can do the proper jail time with out weasling out of it by dying.

by the way i just used you as an example, so no offence intended or saying you have anything to with drugs, im sure your a role model citizen

you crack me up... So you work for Holden? Ford? Another manufacturer? AFAIK they're the ones that build the cars emergency services use. I know you customise them but I didn't think you built them. Still, doesn't change the fact you're referring to UNMARKED cars.

I'm not going to argue. It's clearly pointless.

Sorry if i made it unclear Unmarked and Undercover seem the same to me =P

Twas an unmarked car with lights inside etc.

But the P plate is on the outside next to the plates, so some smart person could of secretly put it there when the Cops weren't looking as a joke lol
