well im curious what the penalties for driving with out a licence in qld are any one know?
its not the kind of thing i can go into a cop shop and ask or main roads.
im not gonna do it and im not encouraging any one to to it
from what i gather the fine is up to 300k.......... dont know if theres anymore
Aha seems pretty suss you said that though. Fine and maybe a night in a cell with Bubba awaits?
without a licence, you mean : just not having it on you at the time, or not having one altogether... due to it being lost for speeding etc..??
dont worry, il start a ride thread soon.
i mean not having all together
Just spent the last 2 weeks studying this by coincidence. Basically it's all summed up in the Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act (or TORUM for short), section 78, subsection (1) - A person must not drive a motor vehicle on a road unless person holds a driver license authorising the person to drive the vehicle on the road.
Maximum penalty for you would be 1 year, unless you've been disqualified then you're looking at around 18 months. That's maximum. First time offender you'd likely just get a fine - however you'd also be uninsured regardless, and in the event of an accident you'd be deemed at fault (from an insurance perspective) regardless whether in fact you are or are not.
Quick edit - You can infact ask at any police station, they would be more than happy to let you know the legalities behind something and hopefully turn you off the idea, even if it's just so they can avoid the paperwork if they ever caught you (trust me, there's a fair bit of it)
i'm pretty sure your first offence you can cop up to a $3000 fine plus your suspension period doubles and a second offence you can get jail time not sure how long though. definitely not worth it i say
your better off driving without ever having had a licence then you are driving whilst disqualified.
but the smarter move is to just follow the rules, and at least you wont be classed a drop kick - last thing you need is to hurt or kill someone.
