Yeah possible, but if he was in the car by himself (yet to be determined...) he'll receive a "you deserve everything you get" post, if not he'll receive a "learn from your mistakes" post, either way I’m posting lol
If his dad was in the car he should have told him, "ay son your speeding a little, back it off", his dad can do nothing BUT take responsibility for what happened, his son is learning, he is teaching.
Another thing jimmy, personally I wouldn’t be advertising on forums that you "got caught…..", what happens on the road stays on the road, don’t draw unnecessary attention to yourself mate.
I'm nearly 25 and my old man still tells me to watch my speed if I creep up over 60. It does happen, especially in older cars. But any new car with speed alert, it's pretty hard.
But yes, moving on.
Perhaps the old limit of 90 was fine, but what evidence do you have of that?
There were no accidents there for the last 20 years, you know that? Possibly the section of road has been reassessed and the limit was lowered for a reason?, why dont you contact your local council who should be able to steer you in the right direction.
We have sections of road reassessed all the time and speed limits can be raised or lowered. School zones for example have all been dropped to 40km/h. Did we need to have a child knocked over outside everyone of them to come up with that rule? ............ they were assessed as areas of risk and in need of a speed limit reduction.
No it's not. I admit that I sometimes find myself going over the limit. Everyone does. If I do I correct it. But if I were to get caught going over the limit, even if it was 5 k's over, I know it was my own fault, and I know that I am breaking the speed limit.
Why is it that so many people find the simplest things the hardest to understand? There are white signs every few kilometres on the roads that have numbers painted in black and circled in red. You go faster than that and you get caught... Tough titties! If you CANNOT accept that then get the f*** off the road.
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!
Don't be stupid. Power isn't measured by the size of your tacho
Possibly what has been lost in translation here is that the speed limit was 70km/h, which isnt the speed you have to travel at. Perhaps try driving 5km/h below the limit, then when you exceed that by 5km/h you wont get into any trouble.
No, there wasn't any accidents in that time. It was lowered to match the next stretch of that road, the difference being, there is no houses or businesses on the stretch that was lowered. I can see why it was lowered with housing on one side of the road, but not the other (other than to be the same as the rest of the road)
I've never heard or seen a speed limit raised, ever.

Wow wow wow, look what happens when you log off the forums for a few hours.
Clear some stuff up, My dad WAS in the car at the time and i would not drive without a licensed supervisor with me on my learners at any time.
I understand i broke the law and im not ****ing bragging about it, the reason i posted this thread was too understand whether the penalties go to my fathers license, or mine.
I was not intentionally speeding and i would never do so on purpose, if any one of you can honestly admit they have never accidentally gone over the speed limit on here I'd tell you that you are full of ****.
I understand what i did was wrong and i am more than willing to accept the punishment.

lol cruise control if you got it
i think it was an easy mistake and think youl just cop a fine if not and your dad seys he was driving he may cop 2? 1 for speeding and 1 for having l plates up?
i think your fine mate i wouldnt worry bout it
Worst that will happen will be an extension on your L plates, but I think that only applies for an infringement that results in loss of licence/permit.
Commsirac - I Have actually. Mind you not in a Commodore.
I did it with some friends in my old Subaru.
It didn't have ABS, and was fitted with some upgraded 277mm rotors and new but bedded in pads.
The difference from 80-85kmh to 0kph was about 30cm. If that.
We actually marked the road after each test, We did it 6times. Each time we had slightly differences in the time it took, but nothing to suggest it went even close to what the RTA was saying.
At the end of the day, its a moot point. If your watching the road infront of you and driving to the conditions, It should never come down the last poofteenth of a meter.
RTA and credibility?
I lol'd.....
I can't quote exact distances, as I simply cannot remember them. If I find the thread we had I'll certainlly post up.
Let me ask one thing though.
Is there any evidence to suggest that the lowering of speedlimits is helping the road toll at all?
How many people died in Victoria this Christmass?
Wasn't this latest revenue raising blitz supposed to be the biggest yet?
It achieved what exactly? (other than lining the governments pockets.)
The message obviously isn't getting throught to people. The fines aren't detering people. So with all that money they get from fining people, why don't they invest some of it in driver education?
Teach it at school ffs.
or invest it in dodgy roads.i know they do but theres a rd where my court comes of and its ****in dodgy as
Exactly.
The state of NSW road would have more to do with the road toll than speeding. They're bloody horrible.
As for Victoria, well I put that down to so many morons in such a small place...
Legislating for stupidity is silly thing to do though.
Fair enough, tanks for the info fellas
Yeah i agree more government money should be spent into driver education courses, especially in schools. I got mates with their P's and i refuse to get into a car with a lot of them as they are just completely insane, and i worry they are going to turn into another P plate statistic/s.
Talking to my cousin on boxing day, he is 30, his company asked all employees to complete a advanced driver training course which the company paid for. My cousin said that he had learned more from that course than how ever many years of driving, ranging from various things as how to control (unintentional) skids, wet conditions, how to brake properly at speed, how to control under steer/over steer. Because we all think we know how to handle these situations, but until your faced with it you will never know if you can handle it or not. He said it was great and a bit of fun, things like these courses i believe the government should encourage and subsidies for all drivers as it could mean the difference between life and death in certain situations.
Its easy fixed.
Just include them in the schools curricullum...
What was the original topic again?
