    Default Got caught....

Hey guys today i was driving back from the Airport along the Eastern Distributor and i went through the speed camera at approximately 78km/h. (70km/h limit)

Now I know im stupid bla bla bla, but I'm on my learners license. WTF happens now haha? I was driving my dads car so the photo will come up with his car but with the L plate on it. What conditions apply to learners? Do i get my license suspended? 2 months away from getting my P's!! DOUBLE DEMERITS TOO!!!!!

Yeah so anyone gotta clue what happens now?

But seems your on Learners, your his responsibility. Nothing will be done to you by the RTA. Your dad on the other hand...

Yeah thats what I'd be asking, if you don't have a licensed driver next to you I wouldn't be worried about the speeding fine.

Might have to see if he can just take the full wrap, otherwise I'd be saying goodbye to your L's and you'll have to start all over again.

Thats kind of irrelevant isn't it?
Its not hard to sneak over the limit. Particularly when you're a newby.

But yes, If he wasn't beside you, then sucked in and buy some lube.

You're learning to drive, you're going to make mistakes. Wouldn't the police understand that and take the fine away?

i guess you can ask god when you get killed in a car crash for speeding, doing 8km over the limit, if you can go back to earth after all, you were just learning.

the person who the car is regestered to gets the fine, do the nsw camera's take a photo of the front or back of the car?

    Thats a rediculous statement.

I think most people would be hard pressed to tell the difference between 60kph and 70kph if they didn't have the luxury of a speedometer.

Don't listen to everything the media shoves down your throat.
Driving 5kph over the limit wont get you killed. Stupidity will.

    What makes you say that?

I can drive at 105km/h all day long and it wont kill me.
But driving like a stooge at the speed limit sure can. Which is what my point is.

Driving like a stooge at 50km/h where the speed limit is 100km/h is dangerous - no doubt about it.

But speed limits are there for a reason, exceeding them is just as dangerous. Reaction times, braking distances bla bla bla, it's not media hype - speeding isn't safe.

Have you ever found out how much difference 5km/h actually makes?

That TV add they had on a while back was a load of BS.

    100kmh - 110kmh, If you didn't have a speedo, you wouldn't know the difference.
I'm not condoning speeding, far from it.
But the media and police demonize it way more than they need too. So much money is spent on anti-speeding campaigns that achieve nothing other than brainwashing people into thinking 5kmh will kill.

But hey, Traffic fines mean revenue, so don't expect the current trend to change...

(Fix the problem before it happens, don't punish after the fact.)

Your saying that every speed limit is justified? Bull****!

A road near me used to be 90, was changed down to 70. The next stretch of road is alongside houses, yet thats 70 aswell. The old limit of 90 was fine. All those people managed to drive at 90 for 20 years, so technically speaking, its safe to drive 20k's over the limit on that stretch of road.

Personally i would've said 'dumb bitch looked both ways, she'd still be on the curb'.....

Well speed limits definitely aren't made up on the spot by some brainless twat.

I'm not saying every speed limit suits the area but they are definitely suited to most places.

And please tell me you're not serious with that last picture.

Yes, the rta ad is on the money.

Soop, what are you backing up your claim with?
Whilst most people wouldnt know(that's why they ran the ad), there are many out there that can do the necessary calculations to verify whether the RTA was stretching the truth or not. It would be something that even a high school physics student could verify. Simply it wouldnt be worth losing credibility by making up rubbish ads.

Yes, depending on the vehicle it is hard to judge exactly what speed you may be doing, that is why we equip the vehicles with speedos.....and indeed why we use measuring tapes, scales, clocks etc as part of daily life....because we cant judge many things to the necessary accuracy required.

But just because we perhaps cant judge this exactly, it doesnt mean that the vehicle is just as safe at 100km/h as 110km/h, do you actually know the respective braking distances, reaction distance and total stopping distance for the average driver and car here?

Thats making it sound like he deliberately was speeding. Even expereinced drivers speed sometimes, I accidentally do sometimes check the speedo and notice i'm going 65 instead of 60.
