I guess you have to think are you happy you got 10+ years out of the holden ones originally? Is it worth the punt or not?
Hey all,
I've got some issues with my car that I will need to have fixed ASAP, and I was wondering if anybody has any advice.
The repairs necessary include a new front right wheel hub, new engine mounts, and quite possibly new transmission mount. I am aware that as a rule I should be replacing both front hubs together at least, however I am a little strapped for cash at the moment.
Speaking to Holden, I got quoted $577 for 2 engine mounts and 1 wheel hub, and $240 for labor. I do not have anywhere to do any repairs myself, no room around here to jack it up safely.
What I would like to know is, can anybody recommend any place to have the repairs done in the southside of Brisbane around the Redlands area, AND should I buy Holden genuine parts, or should I look for some aftermarket options? Looking on eBay they have the hub I need for $140 plus postage, but I don't want to go replacing genuine with something that's going to let me down and cost me more money soon after.
Thanks in advance everybody

ABS wheel hubs are something like $400 from memory, non-ABS about half that.
Engine mounts can be had fairly cheap, I've used aftermarkets in the past, they were about half the price of OEM and were just as good. I've also seen kits on eBay with engine mounts and transmission mounts going for fair prices.

There are kits for manual boxes too.
As with anything, take it to few non-Holden shops, or even a few Holden shops and get some more quotes.
Thanks Danja, will be looking around for more quotes.
And yeah, the $335 quote was for an ABS hub.
