Hey guys...
Got randomly pulled over, breathtested and fined the week before Chrissy for not displaying my plates.. Ooops.
Slammed with $189 to pay on a $360 a week wage, larrrrvelerrley.
Was just wondering, have you been fined for this? The same amount? Or how did you get out of it...... I was wearing a tiny little dress, it didn't work lol. I also said I had washed my car the day before....... It just didn't look that clean though haha

not really an appropriate section for this, and other will mainly say "ahh too bad your fault deal with it"
i personally havent, but mine are always on the car, 1 hanging from the tow bar thingy with zip ties and the other screwed into the front number plate, my mate has been pulled over because he had cut his out but the copper didnt fine him, just laughed and told him to put on proper ones.

Awwww. Well, didn't think there was any points, he didn't say anything and it didn't say anything on the tickets...
You see, at work, where I park, well basically anywhere I park, people steal them!!
WHY?!
THEY ARE FREE!!!!
They were tied on with garbage ties, stolen. Tied on with zip ties, stolen.
Screwed on behind the effing numberplate, and some lame low life carries a screw driver around with them, steals my frikkin P plate and leaves my number plate hanging. B@STARDS!!
Sorry if it's the wrong section hey mate... Just p!ssed off.
Noone believed anyone was stealing my plates... Until I had my mate from work who loved arriving late to walk to my car with me at knock off, to find.. no plates..
run red and white wires from under the car to the number plate with a little red L.E.D visible, that my deter them, or write on the plate "i ****ed on this in small writing"

Why didn't you have plates on?
Lucky your not in SA, here its an automatic lose of license for breaching your P conditions.

Even on the car that had the P plate screwed on with one screw never got stolen.
NSW laws are really stupid. They expect you to have your P plates on the out side of the car but they keep getting stolen. Should have asked the copper if he had any in his car as you have run outKeep the stick on ones as well if you still have them

I've never heard of anyones P plates getting stolen in SA, althought we were allowed them inside the car (think that has changed now tho)
This is how i put mine after a power tripping cop fined me for 'not displaying p plates' when both were up, just a corner of the rear one fell down.

Wait, what? You're not allowed to have plates on the inside of your car?
I always have had them on the inside and no cop has said anything, everyone else has theirs on the inside too...
And I was thinking, if you keep getting them stolen from the outside, put them on the inside. But if your not allowed to that sucks.
ages and ages ago i was driving with a mate trying to find this persons house, and there was road works going on so there was dirt and **** all over the road. i did a u-turn next thing i know a cop pulls me over.
he goes to me that i did a u-turn over double lines. i explained that i couldn't see that because of the dirt on the road and hes like well you can either take a fine for that or take a fine for now displaying a p plate in full view
my P plate was up the very top corner a little bit hidden behind where that blue sun strip is at the top of your windscreen. the fine was less for the p plate then the illegal u-turn so i just took that.
come to think of it after writing all that im not sure what the point of that story was but there ya go. from now on because of my tint and to avoid ever getting a fine for that **** again i keep mine on my number plate too
the funny thing is, originally in N.S.W you werent aloud to have them on the inside, then they changed them because they would all get nicked and the RTA was getting cleaned out of them, so they changed it to inside, then they changed it back again with the new laws last year. my god they are stupid. last 3 times ive been to tthe RTA they havent had any on display to take, and if you ask they usually wont give you more then 4 each time.

it is acctually a demerit point loss too so your lucky that you only copped a fine
In all honestly its peoples attitude thats brought it on. I was lucky enough to miss the rules but then again I always had em on because I couldnt afford losing my licence. also FYI you might have a chance with the stick on ones to plead your case, although the law is acctualy worded so the cop is to ignore that its even there. If its not obvious and outside then forget itNSW laws are really stupid. They expect you to have your P plates on the out side of the car but they keep getting stolen. Should have asked the copper if he had any in his car as you have run out Keep the stick on ones as well if you still have them
You wouldnt win a fight against it, the rule is they have to be displayed outside end of story and its a known fact many P platers dont display them in the hope of speeding and getting away with it. When Im doing 110 kph on the freeway and am overtaken by a p plater with a plate on the front but not the back, it just confirms that theory.
I'd just be thankful it was only a $$ fine and not a demerit point loss.
i had mine on the outside only once, got pinched and it was the last time.
now with the tint you can barly see the rear one and after classified_calais got a warning about his with the same tint as mine rather then put it on the outside, i got a decal sticker made up for the rear window on the calais and clubby, its will be a prick to get off next month when im off my p's but its better then em getting knocked off all the time or the fine for not displaying them correctly.
I kinda have my P plates on lol,i got pulled up a few weeks ago,got breath tested and then they let me go,my back p plate wasent even on it fell off and the front one was just sitting on the dash.then i drove up the road to did what i had to do and was coming back and they where on the other side as well lol got pulled up again and still dident say anything about them,i have mine on the inside though.but when i got a speeding fine they did tell me to get new ones lol.i guess Queensland is more lenient on the rules.
jeres my rear one
except its usally ends up horizontal if you do over 50...
my mates that he got in trouble for:
he didnt have the one under the license plate at the time.
