220km/h bike rider

[VL Berlina 5speed]

just saw on the news a video of a person in canberra riding 220km/h on a bike,

the video was posted on youtube and now apparently a 20yr old man is been question etc,

now i have a feeling this is a member on here which has been banned for something along the lines of this, if so you sir a hero......NOT

you give people a bad name for bike riding and ruin enthusiest reputation

i only just read that thread and the reason given has never been used to ban a user. If videos exist of some arse-turkey on a crotch rocket it has nothing to do with Just Commodores.

OP - i hope the guy does time for it. A little too dangerous to share the road with.

dunno about in OZ but lane splitting is legal in NZ if you use your indicators and don't do it at excessive speeds....then it becomes dangerous driving, and/ or crossing the centre line without indicating.
First hand experience from asking cops at rider training days.....even the cop said he does it.

Having said that our give way rule is all up the blurter tho too...

Opposed to most car drivers who refuse to do a head check before changing lanes, not taking the time to see smaller objects on the road.

Most motorbike riders do not think they own the road. Who cares if they lane filter, you would too if you could fit into the gaps at lights.

Personally, I ride a bike, but I don't filter beyond two cars in front of me, and it isn't to beat the traffic... It's to avoid some ignorant moron riding up the back of me because they weren't paying attention. At least if I go a car or two in front I'm protected.

Incorrect I believe it's illegal in all states, except for Victoria from memory. I have quite a few mates who have been fined for it in NSW.

Lane splitting in itself is not illegal, however, there are many many road rules you are breaking if you do it.

Would love to see evidence of where it is safer, can you provide any or was it an on the fly comment with no ability of backing it up?

ah, lets see, if you're a motor bike, and you stop at the end of a line of cars sitting at the lights, and a truck is fast approaching the stopped traffic, and his brakes fail, you are now DEAD!

if you'd lane split, and were sitting at the very front of the lights, chances are you're not dead.

its most likely that you don't hear about motor bike riders getting killed in such situations because they all lane split!
