my worst car was an ea wagon, the thing was massive and it was slow
How about a bit of fun on the last day of the year...
Tell us all, what is the worst car you have ever owned? And why was it the worst?
I'll start off:
My second car was an EL Falcon. After owning it for less then 2 years (pre-owned) the steering was shacking like crazy (I did not drive it hard at all), the head gasket went... then after paying to get it fixed a few weeks after that the whole head went.
I paid $8000 for it back then, spent at least $3000 in repairs and sold it 2 years after buying it for $5000 (at that time the market value was $6500).
Saying that, reliability wise my first ever car, the VN Commodore Exec (with body kit). Only one hose went in the whole 3 years + of my ownership. Paid $5000 for it and sold it for $5000 (only mod I put in was a stereo system worth under $800) and a racing style steering wheel).
my worst car was an ea wagon, the thing was massive and it was slow

my old lexcen, im sure some of you remember it.
TVR-190: That LSD service paid off. Stato just got very sideways.
Grennan: In a stato, the term is held starboard.
Does catching the bus count?![]()

My first car, (and most expensive car to date) was a Mazda 626. Gearbox broke twice, alternator, water pump, fuel tank baffles... and the worst part is, all that stuff was incredibly expensive to fix. Water pump was SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS.
Since then, I won't buy anything other than an 88-93 commodore ^_^

Good ol' Commodores... my VN was so great! If I ever come across it again I might just buy it for sentimental value. The kid I sold it to, I saw him years later at a petrol station, said it had never given him issues either. I met the Kid one more time when he was on duty at the station but he had sold it by then.
The VX I got for sale has been great also... only had one problem ever.
VE senator. extremely unreliable.
My first car was a colt which was prolly my worst.....other then that it would of been my old van......only ever owned VB-VK commodores other then the colt and 2 mitsi vans. The old Commo's are great. Lots around, cheap parts, and if anything goes wrong it normally isn't expensive to fix and we've got heaps of spares which makes it cheaper again.

For me, my first car was my worst car.
An LJ Torana four door, red six, auto.
First the gearbox went, mind you, on this box, it FLEW, so I picked up a 2nd hand traumatic through a mate's mate and threw it in. It went from being a fast car that had good top end to GUTLESS with no top end whatsoever. My mate's KA laser could beat it.
The engine from a month into owning it had reliability issues (twin strommies) and for every week it drove, it spent two in the driveway due to something that failed.
Here's the kicker. We found it had been chop shopped (we, I mean myself, a friend (who also wanted to buy it, I just got there 1st) and my father). Chassis numbers did not match, welding lines as an LJ nose had been joined to an LC front end (factory swaybar which was deleted for the LJ) and somewhere in the middle grafted onto an LJ rear end. Not to mention the chassis was twisted. It's right turning circle was horrid, having to 3 point turn instead of U turn at traffic lights (twin lane) but could left turn on a dime and gouge out the tyre wall on steering components. Dashboard lights only worked when it rained and there was what looked like a brass household plumbing component that fed info from the engine to various guages.
There's also a joke going betweeny friends that it was haunted. It drove better or worse depending on who was in the car at the time, and my ex GF always wound up hurting herself in one way or another. But another girl I was friends with at the time (who is now my wife) never had any problems.
There are other stories about the torry that lean against all that being coincidental but I'll leave it at that for now.
That was one F-d up car. Why did I get it in the first place? Young dumb teen who thought he knew everything and went "PHWOAR TORANA!!!!1111oneone"
I like to think I've come along way since then.
it was my first car 70 somthing subaru 4 door absolute piece of s*** (the one that looks like an ugly FISH) it blew smoke like you wouldn't believe anything over 80kms/h hit the brakes and it would shake real bad, I had a look to see what the prob was and there was two inches of the front brake drum missing, tried to take it up the hills and it was gutless as, after about six months I got rear ended by a van whilst stationary at the lights he paid me $400 for the damages ( I paid $350 for it from a mate who wanted it gone) which I fixed using a besser block to smack the dent out of the boot, then the night my first son came home from hospital (in a taxi) after birth, it got defected for bald rear tyres.
when I thanked the copper for the defect he thought I was being a smart arse! but I told him I was genuinely thankful that now I would never put my kids in that car.
side note; me and a mate thought it would be funny to do a handbrakey, when we both hit the windscreen it wasn't funny, the handbrake was on the front wheels! lol.
Nobody wants to play with me
By no means my first car, actually about no. 15 - a 1989 Telstar Ghia. Sh1tbox, Sh1tbox Sh1tbox... and only about eight years old!
Auto was defective, idle control motor (about the size of a coke can) died - quoted over $1100 bucks to replace only, not install. No way - car went the following weekend. Wore tyres out in no time, despite wheel alignments, rusted out muffler,
Traded a VN Exec for it (really bad move) and went back to a VR Berlina (best move of all), all in fourteen months. Will not touch another Jap/Ford ever.
mine was a Magna TP fing thing was auto and used to stall when ever i hit a sharp left hander
I love VLs but my 1st VL back in 95 was a wallet emptier.
Bought it for $9000 at the time. Within the 1st week the CAS went and back then cost $450 to replace and fix.
Then one day driving in Perth City all of a sudden it went red line on the temp gauge. Pulled over and it was ****ing out water.
Later that week found the radiator split and warped the head, massive crack down the cam shaft.
So $3600 later and a new motor/radiator I thought all sweet.
18 months later yep it was starting to overheat again. All the things that could cause it were checked/flushed/changed. A month later found out the head was stuffed again. So $800 later a recon head done through a mechanic friend.
6 months later it was starting to overheat again so I though 5years of owning it, spending over $6000 on repairs over that time that I would cut my losses.
I sold it to a young guy for $2700.
Sucked big time.![]()
Datsun 180b, i had 3 layers of carpet on the drivers side floor 2 stop me feet going through it. would never start, and had no reverse....
mazda E2000 van was slower than a loaded bdouble up hills.
my very first car when i got my P's. 86 KC Ford Laser. somebody pulled in front of me on a highway and i hit the side of their car at 80k's. no more laser.
the vl was the worst for bits and pieces and as a wallet drain but it also may have had something to do with the way it was driven. Can't fail the camry, the merc is yet to be tried and tested but so far seems to hold up pretty well.
my worst was a hyandai lantra 93 model... and it was the worst because it was a hyandai lantra 93 model :P
lotta vl haters here :P i owned 6 vls and never had a problem with any of them, id buy another one no worries
i'm certainly not a vl hater but in terms of cars i have owned it has been the biggest amount of hassle. it was also the most fun! how does one person go through so many vls?
well there was only 3 that i kept and drove around... the other 3 i bought as a fix up and sell investment... my fav was my sl wagon that i put an injected 5ltr in from my old vp..
Out of all the cars (only about 8 i think) I have had I cant really say any were bad, have had lots of different types from a 71 mini to a 2003 STI but none were actually bad cars.
mine was my 1st, 1968 snot coloured toyota corona, used to drive it and the exhaust manifold used to glow orange with heat, had to push start it more often than not.....farkin slammer!!
