you need to read what i say before you go quoting me incorrectly. i was referring to the police attempting to pull some one over, having that person drive away instead and the police would just sit there thinking the quote above

so you dont want police to chase after a guy immediately because its unsafe, but youre more than willing to have them unload a weapon in public? good logic there. what do you define as safe? what happens if a bullet ricochets off the spinning wheel and hits something they never expected?

The only reason anyone would run is if the car was stolen... if its your own car all they have to do is take down your licence plate n theyll be at your door first thing

unless it's a) your car with stolen plates or no plates, or b) someone on drugs who isn't thinking straight, or c) America.

The report I saw was a guy got caught for the 3rd time under the hoon laws driving at 176kmh in an 80 zone.. silver VT SS.. 18-19" chrome xhp jet rims and no rear spoiler.

Hope thy do take his car off him for good.. obviously a menace and its people like him that give the other ss drivers a bad name...

There are many other ways to stop a theif. Instead of starting a high speed chase try to keep it at a minimum speed. Get a helicopter on the theif. Shoot his tires if its safe. Block him. Spike his tires.

Petrol in a car doesnt last forever, he'll eventually have to stop and get out of the car so if a helicopter is on him and cops are scattered around the place theres no need for a high speed chase. In shows like cops they have helicopters recording it yet the police still chase them and continue to endager people.
You really are a numb nut. Attitudes like yours would be more welcome over at the 'other' commodore forum.

We got passed by a police chase on NYE. A white AU falcon with exhaust dragging on the ground being chased by no less than 15 cops cars with sirens blazing. It ended a few hundred metres up the road. This was in the Shellharbour area. Some little wanker crying and swearing at police as he was dragged away. A bullet to the wankers head would solve problems
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!

Actually i agree we need to adopt the english approach and use choppers with infra red camera doesnt matter where you go your going to get caught. If people know they got police cars chasing theyll drive faster and more dangerously when theres no cars they drive less dangerously its been proven in england to be greatly benefical in reducing accidents and savings lives plus increasing arrests.

Also at one point manchester in england a car was stolen every 5 minutes and the next highest place for car theft was Perth

Pub24/7, but do you know how much it costs to keep a chopper in the air? And for it to be effective in Melbourne there'd need to be at least 2! One for Melbourne area and one for Geelongish area.

And what happens when there's 2 in progress at the one time in Melbourne? And also when one police chopper is needed out bush/forest to try find someone (lost or running away)?

Not really deasable for Victoria. Need to think smarter, and none of the GPS box that limits what you can do in your car, that can also be used to find out when your speeding and fine you for it when the data is sent!

I hear what your saying and you make very good points but theres the old addage "can you put a dollar value on someones life"
It may be expensive but the time the chase goes for may be reduced buy using the chopper to help coordinate and trap for offenders.
Also i thought crimson thunder posts had some good points people should think before they start hanging **** on people

I agree you can't put a dollar value on someone life, however the Government would have to give the police a bigger budget to allow for this! So would eaither take from other sections or taxes would go up (and people will complain about that). Tricky situation hey?

I know what it's like to be in an organisation and try to organise everything by a budget, i work in a primary school as an IT Technician. Yes there's things that would do the priamry school a world of good, we just can't afford everything though! So we have to look at other cheaper alternatives for now (even if i have to develop things).
